I'm just wondering how you guys handle sales to friends. Do you give them a bit of discount? Charge what you would charge anyone else?I usually sell low value cards to him, sub $10. But, this is for Confidants. I don't want feel like I'm giving away too much in $$$. Should I charge a percentage of what he would pay all in at the LGS?

Whatever markup you want to get is totally OK, they will understand since they are your friends after all! It is also customary to purchase a soda for them after a sale is completed.

Charge him full price or give it to him for free. People don't really seem to appreciate it when you give them deals. I've had friends give other friends great deals and then later hear that that friend resold the item at full price and bragged about it.

Market price for friends who are bordering on acquaintances, those who are close enough to be my wedding best man can have cheap stuff for free and big stuff at whatever I bought them for, but they don't mind overpaying also. Which leads me to my point, if you guys are close friends and working adults, ten of dollars worth of cards / stuff shouldn't be an issue.

5% off whatever you could liquidate them for.I don't even know, i just wanted to answer. It is really dependent on how you and your friends are. A friend of mine trades me his played cards for my NM/M sometimes and i haven't collected on the premium yet. Eventually he will owe around $5 just for trade ups and then i'm sure it will be no problem if i someday say 'hey gimme that $5 card'. __________________ Want Drana, Kalastria Bloodchief, and other vampire females oddities (foreign, foil, crimp, miscut, misprint, sign, test print, alters, artist proofs, etc)

My buddies and I sell cards to each other quite often. We just go to TCG Player and take the lowest price for NM from a Seller that ships to Canada. This results in everyone being happier because the Buyer pays less than the local LGS price and the Seller does not have to deal with selling online or sending mail.

I try to keep it fair for everybody at the same rate, and I make sure to keep that rate at what I view as "market value". You know, TCG Player Low/ebay. It seems to have worked for me as the norm around here is Star City anyway.Another thing to mention is like the other side of the coin. Do you have qualms about charging non-friends more? That ends up being way more damaging IMO. Like don't take advantage of your friends obviously, but when you end up taking advantage of someone who isn't your friend, it seems to tarnish that reputation quite a bit. I've seen guys end up with like basically no trade clauses because they're pretty ruthless in trades.

as with most things, have him make you an offer first. On a separate note, if a friend is going to just sell them in his own store or someone else I don't discount. I only will for personal use.

I charge them what I charge everyone else though I might just give them cheap stuff (less than $1 on TCG low / ebay) for free.__________________ <Jazaray> LIQ! <Jazaray> you broke MOTL <Liq> totally <BoltBait> Don't make me kick you <Slinga> Have no fear, MOTL's janitor is here! <nderdog> So we're all agreed, it's Liq's fault, right? <Leshrac> let me deal with that * Liq has been banned

I've seen people haggle over these small types of margins before, in the long run it really isn't all that much money and if the person is your buddy then just sell them at whatever is the lowest you feel comfortable selling them for. Basically what I've done is look at what amount of money do I feel like I'd rather have the cards than the money, that's your floor for pricing. You don't want seller's regret to kick in after you've sold them and you also don't want to feel guilty you took more from a friend than you really needed. If you sell at your floor then you can feel good you gave your friend a great deal while not feeling like you made a mistake yourself.

Normally, they come to me and give me my price. If it is a lot of stuff, I try to give them a little bit of a break, depending on the cards. With me selling out, if it is not cards, I am a lot better with deals.__________________ Tower Magic FacebookTop 20 in MOTL Refs My 2008 Nationals hilikuS: Also, as much as MAB's list has become the list on the T/A Forum, I do miss Slinga's.
