Has anyone had first hand experience with kmc super or kmc hyper?I am wanting to protect cards better as I venture into legacy. I have used ultra-pro, but want to upgrade. I have heard that the hyper mats are too short and cards scoot out..i have also heard they are the best ever. I figure I ought to use perfect fit and double sleeve, but could use advcie. Thanks!

On the recommendation of other users, I bought a case of perfect fits and kmc hyper mats to sleeve my entire collection. I'm definitely a fan of having every card I own sleeved in the same stuff. Havent notice any scuffs or broken protectors yet, but I've been using them for less than 6 months. I gotta say that the biggest issue I have is that all of my deck boxes are too small. I had to buy bigger deck boxes but I feel much more pro using the Mana Flip deck boxes. Someone turned me on to this site for the protectors: http://www.potomacdist.com/list.asp?code=4040 I ordered mine from Saito Card Shop, which was about the same price and got here in 3 days from Japan, which was impressive. Prices are going to vary based on exchange rates so you might get a better deal there depending on the changes in JPY (havent looked into it lately)

I have recently converted to the double sleeve system. I bought KMC based on recommendations from other players and one dealer. According to the recommendations the KMC last longer, are more consistently cut and fit most brands of sleeves. I have heard the the Ultrapro perfect fits warp over time. I have not witnessed this but the comment is from players that have used the perfect fits for much longer than I have.

thanks for the advice, any other opinions/reports/advice are appreciated. Saito and Card Kingdom seem to have the best prices. On a related note, for older cards to store/display/trade, where condition matters most, is a new top loader binder sheet sufficient, or should I use the penny sleeve/hard top loader combo?

I went KMC about 5 months ago. Bought a case of Hypermat Black and Perfect Fits. After double sleeving I only had 2 deck boxes big enough to fit them without tokens in it so I bought some Ultrapro Pro dual deck boxes which give me enough room for deck, sideboard, tokens and dice. The only thing I didn't like is that they are boring solid colors (the deck boxes) so I had to buy a bunch of stickers from the dollar tree and let my kid go nuts with it and some sharpies. Looks much better now.

I don't have experience with the Hyper Mat, only with the Mat and the Super. I use the Mat (Black, if you want to know) with KMC Perfect Fits for legacy and cube, and haven't had one split so far, but a few bent corners. After months? years? they definitely show some use and don't feel as nice (or slippery) to the touch. The back shows more use than standard UltraPros, but they don't split (and I mash shuffle, a lot, for fun). As an aside someone spilled some water on the open cube box, and the perfect fit + normal sleeves did protect the cards. I use Mat by themselves for a Modern deck and it feels great. I don't think they are too short (there's maybe 3mm on top?), but I did hear Hyper Mats are shorter. I've used Super in orange, which feels close to the Mat but... not quite? They're not as used as the Mat Black but I don't believe they're less reliable. Due to colour however they're slightly transparent, not meaningful in any way but I wouldn't want to take them to a real competition, just to be safe.

This is probably a dumb question, but I'm going to ask anyway since I have problems with this: how do you get the air out of the sleeves? I started to try to double sleeve a Legacy deck and ran into big problems with air getting trapped inside the sleeves. I'm using Ultra Pro Pro Fit sleeves inside of Ultra Pro Matte Black regular sleeves. Is that my problem? Is there that much of a difference between Pro Fit and Perfect Fit?

i've noticed that placing the palm of my hand on a double sleeved deck and slowly rotating with a gradually increasing amount of pressure pushes the air out without doing any damage to the sleeve. I've never forced it so I'm not sure if putting too much pressure would cause any breaks.

Stack em up and then smash them down. After that I throw them in a deck box and cram extra cards in there to keep them smashed and leave it till I use the deck again. After all that they stay flat and don't suck air back in.

Thanks, I'll try that. Does anyone know if this works better with the KCM products, or will they be as easy/hard to work with as the Ultra Pro stuff?

I use KMC and flatten them the same way.
