It may have been dumb for Magic to do the "Japanese block" at the time they did (anime and Japanese video game culture were exploding in popularity at the time) but in the context of the set "Bushido" and "Ninjitsu" fit well.

Megamorph suffers from "mega" being overused lately, but that's only the beginning of it's problems. Megamorph also suffers from association with the children's show "mighty moprhin power rangers" which featured the "megazord" robot.

I invite wizards to bring back some other sort of "mega" mechanic in the future when we have a set about creatures growing to silly proportions (often with cybernetic implants) and fighting in dramatic Godzilla-style showdowns. Then they can join the ranks of Yugioh mega creatures like "Mecha Phantom Beast Megaraptor", "Zaborg the Mega Monarch", and "Orca Mega-Fortress of Darkness".

have you, like, seen modern lately? narset is too slow to make an impact. there is a reason the last modern pt had no UW decks in the top 10 played archetypes.

I think one of the bigger reasons she is not good enough for modern is she really is not that relative the turn she hits the board. Assuming you are tapping out to cast her when you do, you aren't going to be able to take advantage of her -2 ability which is the only one that would really be of value in a modern match imo. Lilly is great because she has immediate impact the turn she hits the board, Narset is going to take a turn after casting, on top of having 1 additional cmc to drop

New Sarkhan

In other news, Karn Liberated & Tarmogoyf are being reprinted in MMA2. Flip cards are back in Origins. New Liliana is really good.

Dragonlord Atarka is...such a disappointment. Jund got the shaft in the dragon set.

I agree Atarka's a little disappointing because of the 5RG cost, but I disagree that Jund got shafted. 7 mana in green isn't that hard to get to early & Kolaghan is a beast. Atarka's Command is good, and if Kolghan's Command is good that's two good commands & two good Dragonlord in Jund, plus Ultimate Price.

I was looking at them more from the lens of EDH, which I probably should have stated. Kolghan is obviously not too hot for that format and I would rather run Bogardan Hellkite over Atarka, since the damage is much more flexible. I admit that a 7cmc 8/8 is not the worst thing though. I just liked the FRF version of Atarka more.

Deathmist Raptor is my hidden gem choice for this set.
