Any of you get cards graded? If I just wanted to get 1-4 cards graded what's the cheapest way to do it? When I glanced at the BGS site it seemed like my costs would be Shipping it there (would have to pay for insurance b/c don't wanna lose this package). Guessing this would cost me $10-$25 depending on insurance value If I was willing to wait 45 days (ugh) $11 per card - though for only $15 per card cuts it down to 20 days. then another 18 for shipping back to me :-o So to get 1 card graded seems like it cost me like $10+15+18 = $43 (right?) That seems like a lot, especially with the entire process taking like a month. What all are you experience? Considering getting 3 of my unplayed revised duals graded, my english tabernacle that is nm, and a lotus I'm talking with someone about. I own 3 graded cards, but I got them that way and will probably just trade them off (1 unl trop grade ex i think, 1 rev underground sea grade 8 i think, and UNL BOP grade vg i think) http://www.beckett.com/grading/faq

It doesn't matter how fast it takes to grade them unless you're trying to trade/sell them right away. I'm not sure if that's your plan, but since everything you're getting graded is on the reserve list the longer you wait the more you're likely to profit.

Well the only sense of urgency would come from the fact I just bought this lotus and would consider getting it graded just to go from mostly sure it's real based off scans to totally sure :-p http://www.ebay.com/itm/161689850899?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649 the seller had an account since 2010 but no feedback. he put up the lotus for 2500 and didn't sell so i contacted him. talked with him for about a week, made an offer and he created a BIN for me at my offer price. __________________ Back in my day you could get a soda for a quarter and an underground sea for a Hamilton.

I usually gather up enough pieces to make it worthwhile to ship, and then I wait till March or November and head over to the Fanatics show in Chicago. BGS has a booth there, and you can fill out the paperwork and pay onsite, saving one way of shipping. They don't advertise it, but they've also always bumped me up to the next delivery time, e.g., I pay for 20-day turnaround and they give me 10.Also, they do on-site grading/authenticating, which may be exactly what you want. It's about the same cost as grading, but you get it in an hour. It's not in a hard case though, just a toploader with a tamper-proof sticker stating the overall grade. Looks like this. The actual authenticators and graders are onsite, so it's a great way to go if you want to know the grade without forking over the money and waiting 3-4 weeks. And as long as the sticker and toploader aren't messed with, the raw grade will be the actual grade should you submit it.

Thanks! I had been wondering if they ever did something like that in Chicago. If the next was in May and not November it'd be perfect :- I appreciate that info! __________________ Back in my day you could get a soda for a quarter and an underground sea for a Hamilton.

How do you guys feel about grading? I've noticed some people seem turned off when they say they want a nm underground sea and i say i've got a bgs graded 8 sea they are like i don't want graded cards. i'm like....you can take it out of the case if you want :-pI have 4 unplayed duals, (1 tundra, 1 scrubland, and just picked up my 2nd trop out of a revised booster opened last week by a friend). if you owned them would you get them graded? __________________ Back in my day you could get a soda for a quarter and an underground sea for a Hamilton.

It's a lot harder to pretend I received a damaged card if there's a graded case around it :-P How are we supposed to rip you off if you have "proof," and "expert opinions?" Seriously though, I avoid dealing with graded cards because of the people that tend to have them. Whenever I deal with a collector, there's always a negligible flaw in the stuff I send that I didn't notice, and I always end up having to provide partial refunds or tradebacks. Not everyone who has a graded card is like this, obviously, but it's the stereotype I perceive when someone is trading a graded card. Minor edit: the stuff I trade is never eternal or expensive, in which case I would be stricter with my grading standards.

I think the assumption on the buyer's part is that you are going to charge a lot more than somebody would for a non-graded one of the approximately the same quality.

Ha, that's what I've experienced as well. The only cards I've considered grading are the lotus that is incoming but that was more for authentication purposes. i want to play with it, but pretty sure i can be confident checking it out myself...and those duals i have but those are special. all unplayed and would be kinda cool to keep them that way so for those ya it would take more to get those from me than the price of a nm/m one :-p__________________ Back in my day you could get a soda for a quarter and an underground sea for a Hamilton.
