Anymore i see so many combo decks around tourneys and i wonder: why has wotc done little to stop these combo decks?
I hear people saying that cursed totem will ruin sabre bargain. I hear people say tranquility and various other spells can ruin replenish. I know a couple of these work, but how often will you go to a tourney, and in game 2 vs. a sabre bargain you draw a cursed totem and smile to yourself, thinking you already won,
when they just start they're combo and disenchant the totem?
How many times have you used thran foundry or tranquility just to have it countered or nuetralized?
I want to know why Wizards of the Coast doesn't make cards that can seriously ruin combo decks anymore. If anything wotc makes more combo cards than cards to deal with them.
Now with prophecy out then we have 2 cards that will most likely be used in combos: infernal genisis and dual nature.
no doubt they will be used in some beatdown or control decks, but these have obvious potential for combos. Wizards of the Coast has given less to beatdown lately and more to combo.
In conclusion, i think wotc should make more anti-combo's, and less cards to support powerful decks like sabre bargain.
I want to ask everyone a question: beatdown or combo?

Combo decks play an important role in Magic. We all know the theory: Control beats Combo, Combo beats Beatdown, Beatdown beats Control.
That's of course not entirely true, but discribes very well why combo decks exist. It's one of the three facettes of Magic wich influence every deck out there to a certain degree. Without Combo Magic would be missing a lot.

To bad my StampyGeddon post doesen't work right now, but maybe it'll get fixed. It's tweaked to beat Combo decks.

As any metagame evolves one deck type will eventually dominate. Not one paticular deck, but almost always combos dominate any mature enviorment, along with a decent amount of counter in an attempt to papper-scissors the combos. Inevitably, there are powerful combos in any group of cards. Once these are recognized, combo will always have an edge. Beaty creatures are obvious, and so R&D won't make over powered ones. Often combos take weeks or months for anyone out of the millions of magic players to spot and develop to the point at which it is a viable deck. So as long as R&D is only human, combo decks will have an edge.

Ok guys. Say this word with me. Synergysim. Synergism is when two things combined have a greater effect than the sum of the singular effects. It is a fact that when two cards combine, they often have a great effect. its part of the game. Combo will never die, and odds are that they will be strong archetypes just because of the nature of Combinations. Why would anyone play two cards together if it made a weak effect?

Ok, it appears that you want a card that will absolutely shut down a combo deck and give you an auto win. Thus making you play solitaire Magic because the other deck is completely nutralized. If you wanted to play alone you could stay at home, or you could play a combo deck. My point here is this, Wizards R&D does not make cards to completely shut down combo or to shut down any deck completely (how can we expect them to, they don't even make decent cards anymore), they make cards which help you overcome these decks. Meaning, you still have to keep playing the game after you drop the card that helps you win.
