Hi folks,

This is my first article in MOTL, and sorry if i have some grammar errors, because i live in Finland. In this article i'm going to analyze T2 environment after Urza's block leaving. Here's list of decent cards that leave T2 in about 3 months:

Masticore (arggh, now i must change my name)
Powder Keg
Replenish
Yawgmoth's Bargain
Phyrexian Negator
Treachery
Thorn Elemental
Deranged Hermit
Might Of Oaks
Palinchron
Radiant, Archangel (although any deck don't use it)
Grim Monolith
Ring Of Gix
Gaea's Cradle
Morphling
Stroke Of Genius
Sneak Attack
Serra Avatar
Worship
Lightning Dragon (2-header will replace it)
Yawgmoth's Will
Argothian Enchantress

Pretty list, huh? And then there are all great commons/uncommons...

They don't ever reprint cards with echo, cycling, untap x lands when comes to play & bounce back to hand when going to graveyard, so we are going to lose: Rancor, Pouncing Jaguar, Albino Troll, Wild Dogs, Deranged Hermit, Avalanche Riders, Rewind, Threachery... *sniff* very long list afterall.

Look what decks will disappear: Replenish, Bargain, Trinity Green, Sneak Attack, Enchantress, Wildfire, Tinker, Negator Black, Accelerated Blue & Magpile for example.

Stompy, Ponza & Rebel will survive, and Ponza & Stompy suffer alot when Urza rotates out, while Rebel only loses Glorious Anthem (can be replaced with Crusade) & Mother Of Runes.

So what after Urza? Invasion must be as good as Saga if they want to keep the T2 tournaments good enough for playing. There must be a couple of Chase Cards (tm), good, big blue creature like Morphling (well, maybe Avatar Of Will works), good green weenies, couple LD spells, and new, good deck archetype for black (Mercs are not enough).

I thought that maybe i'll start playing T2 less and start playing T1.x more. What do you think?

Opinions please, or i will write a new article .

-Pekka

Most of what you said here was true, definatly. Though they might reprint cards that let you untap lands when you play them...
I am really worried about what new deck archtypes will pop up. Seems like all the great cards for everything is gone, except for Rebels. Blue Control and Draw/Go will suffer tremendously from losing many cards like Rewind and such. It will be a very sad loss. Hopefully Invasion will show us some really good cards that will inspire NEW decktypes. I'm crossing my fingers.

Yes, the long line of exiles to Type 1 will change the field immensely. It appears that, once again, a handful of decks will beat everything, and Type 2 will suck. Invasion is our best hope. Good mana artifacts are gone, except the Ramos body parts (1 mana isn't exactly exciting). Invasion, please be good. In the meantime, I'll play Type 1 like I always have, and hope for a better tomorrow.
