Hi all again. After a brief hiatus my family and I have moved into our new place. For those of you new, my apartment burned down and I was gone for about 6 weeks which resulted in my much anticipated (only to me ) articles ceased for a time. So here is my tourney report on my deck for the night.

FNM Standard Tournament

Deck breakdown 12
ACC Blue 3
Ponza 1
Rebel 2
originals 2
draw-go 2
tangled stompy

I am playing my blue control deck which was patterned on acc blue but tuned to the way I like to play.

Round 1 vs. tangled stompy
Well the first game was over quickly as he played vine dryad during my upkeep rancored 1 time in his turn then 2 times on his second turn. meanwhile I had 1 port 1 island in play. over in 4. Second game I sideboard 4 seal of removals, my only 2 hibernations, and a overburden. this time I last until he double tangle wires me.
Record 0-2 0-1

Game 2 vs. Draw-go
He establishes control quickly as this is my first time seeing the deck so I let the magpies into play so I can counter morphlings and masticores. Bad move letting a blue deck draw more then 1 card a round. it gets ugly as he plays a core and morphling. game to him. I sideboard in 4 annuls for his kegs and cores. I draw into a first turn soothsaying, 2 grims and 4 islands. By round 5 I have all my artifact mana in play and am searching for cards when I need them. he squeaks in 2 magpies which get dominated then I play my morphling and masticore. he scoops. third game was more of the same as he has no answers to my kegs and treacheries (guess he had no annuls in sideboard ).
record 2-3 1-1

Round 3 vs. some untargetable creature counter deck.
First game he gets mana screwed as I draw three ports and 3 islands. locked down by turn 4 and I lay a 5th turn morphling. He scooped.Game 2 and 3 were classic think em out games. I finally noticed his deck were filled with untargetable creatures(multani, blastoderm, and morphling) backed by counterspells. I manage to hibernate to throw him back some but he finally gets the derm out again and kills me. I draw 2 counters all game, no creatures, and no soothsaying so I feel confident about game 3. THis was the match of the night. He drops a 4th turn blastoderm, I counter with a masticore and take 5 instead of blocking. I chump block for 2 more rounds while drops a few manlands. He tries to drop multani while I have 1 miscalc in hand which I need to discard for the core, since I had no choice I cycled it to find another miscalc, cycled that to draw the one card I could use, thwart. I sent 3 of my tapped islands back to my hand countered it and figured I would win. I was at 12 him at 12 and he had 2 conclaves and a treetop in play while I had the core and 3 cards to pitch. We eventually get down to me at 9 and him at 8. I have 2 islands in play and 2 counters in hand when I made the blunder of the night. he tries to play a derm and I don't counter thinking I could chump block the derm, stupid with 3 man lands in play. I lose 3 rounds later.
record 3-5 1-2

round 4 vs. Acc Blue
Quick match as he can't draw land in either game. I draw 2 ports and 2 islands off the draw in both easy win.
record 5-5 2-2

I ended up 6th when all the tiebreakers were said and done. I left during the finals where the 2 decks that beat me were left with a ponza and rebel deck. My brother had a horrible time with rebel as he never played it before today.

I'm surprised that no one was playing Flores Black(or at least something close to it) as it's such a strong deck.

if you are talking the deck that finkle won with then I can answer that. Last month or so here people have been playing it but ponza and rebel were destroying while my acc blue kept dominating, treachery, and seal his creatures until I established board control. i can dominate a negator round 3 or so and everyone knows when you play a blue deck you better get that 20 in quickly not 10 or 19. now if you are speaking about a different black deck lmk.
