Hello everyone. Welcom to the latest incarnation of Tedman's Tales, which today will be a tourney report of a Type 2 tournament I participated in yesterday.

I know my articles have been really slow in coming, but I've been so unbelievably busy so far this summer, I can't help it.

Bear.dec v2.0

4 Mother of Runes
4 Ramosian Sergeant
4 Steadfast Guard
4 Fresh Volunteers
4 Longbow Archers
4 Crusade
4 Parallax Wave
4 Disenchant
3 Armageddon
3 Reverent Mantra

4 Rishadan Port
18 Plains

As you can see, a pretty basic deck. Play a Plains, play a creature, pump up the creature, win.

There were only 8 people there (), so there were 4 rounds of swiss.

Round 1: Some guy, forget his name

Game 1: This guy's playing a weird B/R Merc/Citadel deck. I was fairly confident. I open with a Mother, and then a Volunteers. He just plays land. I eventually get 2 Ports and lock him down while beating him down. I win.

Game 2: I don't side in anything because I forgot. I start off with a Sergeant, then a Guard, then a Mother and a Volunteers. When I Crusade then Armageddon, it was over.

Matches: 1/0
Games: 2/0

Round 2: Phil Samms (AKA Lachlann here on MOTL)

Game 1: He's playing Magpile (which I know pretty well since he is my teammate). I get a whole weenie horde and beat him down as he feebly tries to recover with Masticore/Magpie, but a Parallax Wave seals the deal.

Game 2: We get a fairly equal start, me getting a few creatures and him coutnering a few. He eventually kills off a lot of my creatures and beats me down with Masticore. I end up Waving the Core away and Armageddon with a few creatures out, thinking that with the counters left on the Wave and the Crusade I have out, I can kill him. My calculations prove to be correct. Him forgetting to pay for the Masticore helped too.

Matches: 2/0
Games: 4/0

Round 3: Wayne

Game 1: He's playing Cradle/Rebel, so I knew this would be an interesting match. I get a bunch of bears out and beat him down. He is mana-screwed, even without the 2 Ports I have in play. I win.

Game 2: I sweep him completely with a horde of Grizzly bears. Not once this whole match did he get one of the 2 Cradles he plays with, which would certainly changed the games.

Matches: 3/0
Games: 6/0

So I'm guaranteed a spot in the Top 4 (although that isn't really hard).

Round 4: Tyler Brown (nebulite here on MOTL)

We decide to ID, letting us both in Top 4.

Top 4

I've got the highest record, so I again, I play Wayne with the lowest record.

Game 1: I mulligan down to 6. He gets out a first turn Ramosian Sergeant, and then proceeds to play a Cradle and whoop me decisively. Me getting about 8 lands and no creatures didn't help either.

Game 2: I'm pretty nervous, seeing if I lose this game, I'm outta contention for first place. I lock him down early with 2 Ports as I amass an army of white weenies. He gets his Cradle/Lin Sivvi thing going, and is about to kill me as I draw one of my 3 sideboard Worships. He can't seem to draw a Disenchant as he gets every creature in his deck into play, except the Masticores. So I as well amass an army, but I can actually kill him. I Mantra for White and attack for thirty-something.

Game 3: This is it. This determines who proceeds to Top 2, and possibly Top 1. Unfortunately for Wayne, this is a repeat performance of our previous match as I lock him down and play weenies faster than him without his precious Cradle. I kill him.

So now I'm in Top 2. Who do I come up against but my dear teammate and friend Tyle who I drew with a while back. We decide to draw again and split the winnings. Here's what I walk away with:

$20, 2 Misdirection and 1 Reverent Mantra. I know it's not much, but it's pretty good for an 8 person tourney.

Note to Glacier14: You'll have better luck next time.

Anyways, until next time, this is Tedman signing off.

Wow I wish I could go to an 8 person type 2 tournament. THe least we ever have is like 35 so it's always a challenge. Good Tournament report by the way. I love that smilie, LOL.

Plus: Props to Team Thunderchunky (Lachlann, nebulite and Glacier14) for helping me fine-tune this monster of a deck.

i wished i had some near me too.
i get around 10-20 or so people, so the challenge varies. but the problem is that either i always play a rebel deck, or an ACC blue deck. no one plays any other type ( except i play stompy).
