Topic: Across the Board, July 29: My Resignation as a Moderator

It seems very appropriate that I say my farewell in the forum that I championed all those months ago. That’s why I chose to make use of this place rather than the General Discussion board. In a way, this entire forum is my child, and there comes a time when a father must say his final farewell to his son. Yeah, I know, I’m boarding on being overly dramatic, but I’d say that I’m entitled to that. This is, after all, my resignation, so I’ll handle it any way I see fit.In the last few weeks, my time has been consumed by personal matters that, while both good and bad, have forced me to spend less and less time on MOTL. I suppose that it’s inevitable that the realities of the world will eventually press in on even our few escapes. I’ve always considered MOTL just that: an escape. An escape from the classes, the philosophical arguments, the pain, the joy…anything that filters into a person’s mind in the course of life. Magic has always been my true escape from the world, and thus MOTL was a natural extension of that. I suppose that we all have to grow up sometime, though. The realities of the world have been pressing in tightly around me as of late, and my only course of action is to forgo my escapes and turn to face what I once ran from. I’ve never been a coward; that’s not in my nature, and I’m sure that there are some people here that can attest to that. I didn’t try to run from my life out of fear, but out of a need to retain my youth, so to speak. The greatest days of my life were spent in high school, so it was only natural that I’d want to hold on to that lack of responsibility and the carefree atmosphere of that type of organization. Perhaps I speak like a person of greater years than I am (after all, I’ve got a long way to go before I rest), but in this cutting-edge world, years are tacked on to us at a much faster rate than previous generations. TemptingElf knows this to be true more than I do, as she’s a true student of philosophy, and I’m mostly just a dabbler. Well, I realize that I’m dragging this out a bit too much, so I’ll get to the point. I’m resigning as a MOTL moderator in all forums that I am involved in. There’s just too much going on in my life right now to devote a huge amount of time to the members of MOTL, and that’s something that absolutely has to be done as a Mod. The members of MOTL deserve nothing but the complete attention of their moderators, and if I can’t give that attention, then it’s only fair that I step down. If I can’t give it my all, then I don’t want to do it at all. It’s much better for MOTL in the long run if I move aside for someone that can throw him/herself into the duties of Mod the way that I was once able to. Don’t think that I’m giving up Magic, though, because there’s no way that I’m giving up that outlet. Perhaps walking away from my Mod duties will open up more time for that, because everything that I’ve done on MOTL was for the love of the game. I’m not going to be leaving MOTL completely. In fact, I’ve shifted to an area of it that is much more appropriate to my particular skills and talents. I will be staying on as the Senior Editor of the upcoming MOTL online magazine, although that’s mostly because I just want to keep my nifty MOTL email address (just kidding). I’ve always had a policy about leaving myself available to the MOTL public, and that won’t be changing. Feel free to email, instant message, or whatever. I may not be able to answer right away, but I will get to it as soon as possible. Thank you for your time, and happy trading.

yes, I'm really a little bit sad that you won't be around that much in the future, as you were always a symbol of order for me...However, I hope that we will get some more of your articles in the future time and that the online mag will work well.(still got no response if I can help/participate(emailed you)) And I also hope, that there will be a new mod that can do the job as good as you did it(it will be difficult to be better than you, though) Finally, thanks for all the time and work you spent to make MOTL such a great place. __________________ Posted by Christoph, the trader in Germany with the most refs: Christoph's Reflist Visit my homepage with my haves/wants, trading-tips and scans
