As promised. The statistical review of how we are doing. These ratings are based on the average rating of the top 30 Fantasy Baseball "Experts". The number is where you drafted a player vs where the "experts" said you should have had drafted him. A negative number means you reached and a positive number means you got him later than the experts would have picked him. The larger the positive number the better your picks. The larger the negative number the more you reached on your picks. Without further ado: Greven53 Biggest Steal: Brett Gardner +56 Biggest Reach: Jordan Zimmermann -12 Overall +213 (This means on average he got a given player 14 picks later than the experts would have gotten them!) MAB_Rapper Biggest Steal: Ike Davis +36 Biggest Reach: Michael Cuddyer -24 Overall +15 (This means on average he got a given player 1 pick later than the experts would have gotten them!) Demilio Biggest Steal: Dan Haren +32 Biggest Reach: Emilio Bonifacio -82 Overall +5 (This means on average he got a given player just about where the experts would have gotten them!) Daner Biggest Steal: Brian Wilson +11 Biggest Reach: Jhonny Peralta -86 Overall -343 (This means on average he got a given player 24 picks before the experts would have gotten them!) Bernek77 Biggest Steal: Mariano Rivera +33 Biggest Reach: Justin Morneau -87 Overall -134 (This means on average he got a given player 9 picks before the experts would have gotten them!) Montague Biggest Steal: Drew Storen +32 Biggest Reach: Huston Street -21 Overall +83 (This means on average he got a given player 5 picks after the experts would have gotten them!) Speechjew Biggest Steal: Jason Heyward +38 Biggest Reach: Derek Holland -45 Overall +96 (This means on average he got a given player 6 picks after the experts would have gotten them!) mattw Biggest Steal: Aramis Ramirez +13 Biggest Reach: Nyjer Morgan -215 Overall -785 (This means on average he got a given player 56 picks before the experts would have gotten them!) hammr7 Biggest Steal: Craig Kimbrel +25 Biggest Reach: Johan Santana -151 Overall -188 (This means on average he got a given player 13 picks before the experts would have gotten them!) hilikuS Biggest Steal: Brandon Phillips +28 Biggest Reach: Jayson Werth -18 Overall 35 (This means on average he got a given player 2 picks after the experts would have gotten them!) pugowar Biggest Steal: Daniel Hudson +31 Biggest Reach: Jimmy Rollins -19 Overall 117 (This means on average he got a given player 8 picks after the experts would have gotten them!) Just remember that many (most?) of the "experts" are making choices for Leagues that aren't head-to-head, accumulate stats over an entire year, have weekly (rather than daily) roster changes, and have different roster configurations.Having said all that, it will be great to again prove all those experts wrong. According to the numbers above, as a "League" we are collectively horrible, since the overall league rating is around -1,300. Three possibilities for this dilemma include: 1. Maybe the experts included players of no use this year (like a certain Detroit catcher)? 2. Maybe the calculation formula for our league "ratings" is somehow askew? 3. We really are that bad?

That all said, a couple big reaches can really throw off your totals. I would think on average we really aren't that far off the experts. There are just a number of players we each probably like and want to make sure we get.In order to do that you need to pick them early.

That's right, keep taking the closers, I'll keep stock piling the SPs.

Dude...there are only 30 closers, there are still about 30 SPs I'd still like to have on my team.

well people are really gonna hate me when i get home and post the list just to show you....can't be too mad if i name a guy you want. its round 16 and im about to name 30 guys... EDIT: ....without further delay, my list of 30 guys(in no specific order) who I'd still be fine if they were a part of my roster. Remember, I already have 5 SP's and it's round 16.
Chad Billingsly Doug Fister Wandy Rodriguez Erik Bedard Ivan Nove Roy Oswalt Jake Peavy Jair Jurrjens Ervin Santana Johnathan Sanchez Ryan Dempster Gavid Floyd Mark Bueherle Trevor Cahill Mike Minor Jake Arrieta Clay Buchholz John Danks Phil Humber Mike Leake Homer Bailey Juan Nicasio Jacob Turner Bud Norris Ted Lilly Francisco Liriano Jonathan Niese Brandon McCarthy Dallas Braden A.J. Burnett Charlie Morton Ryan Vogelsong Jason Vargas Kyle Lohse Jeff Niemann Colby Lewis Kyle Drabek Edwin Jackson ....That's almost 40 guys I would mind having as a #6 to add depth. So um, yea, don't take any closers....please keep pecking away at a limitless pool of serviceable SP's

Ok so seriously would anyone have taken him in the next 15 picks or did I not need to trade up to get him?
15/9 k/inning ratio?!? Dude is sick. Of course he is also 2nd in line for saves for a team that could lose 100 games this year.

It is way too soon to pick up on closer-wannabees. Of course, I'm speaking from a position of already having 3 closers. In prior years, when you only needed 7 or 10 IPs per week, and when K/IP was a point category, a guy like him would have been extremely relevant. But with a 20 IP per week requirement, pitchers that might only throw 1 or 2 innings in a week had better be closers, or be one of your final picks.

I disagree. If I take a bunch of good relief picthers and have bench of nothing but starters, I will never fail to hit 20 IP a week. Oops, there goes my strategy. __________________ MOTL's Most Likely to Play in the Pro Tour - 2007, 2008, and 2009 (My 2008 Nationals) The Official Tower Magic Facebook Page

it's a better strategy in roto, taking 3 middle relievers who balance out to an elite starter. edit: I think we're off the path with draft order. Dane, care to clear things up?

Yeah i think Monty was up. Matt traded me his pick. Matt let us know if you wanted to keep that pick and not trade and I can retract my pick. I would hate for you to miss out on Kazmir
