If they give out yellow for every dive, there won't be enough players on each team after the round robin.

I also find it funny that all footballers cover their face as soon as they hit the ground. I guess they gotta make sure their bad facial expression isn't going to give anything away.

So I believe they gave that up. Plus referees are chickens, and I don't blame them. Just look at the Japanese ref awarding Brazil the first penalty this tournament.

The match between Australia and Netherlands was horrifying. By us. I can't believe we actually won. We played almost as poorly as we did against Spain, but they forgot to pressure us in the 2nd half and as we were very effective we won. Australia just kept the pressure on and we sucked arse. Van Persie got lucky getting the ball there to score but he didn't do anything right, nearly invisible. Sneijder didn't make one good pass all night. The defense collapsed and our midfield was non-existent. The penalty was a doozy for the Aussies but the first goal they made was brilliant. The difference between us and them tonight was we can actually create a chance and score (Robben, Van Persie. The last one by Depay was a shot the keeper should have had). They got 1 good lucky goal (Cahill) and a penalty. A draw would have been a fair outcome considering the whole match.

Bottomline, we're through due to Chile clobbering the Spanish, but I'm not convinced. We need to shape up. I hope we pair vs. Brazil. They play just as poorly as the Spanish do right now.

Correct. I'm glad there are sports where that doesn't happen in whatever form, like MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL, cycling, athletics, etc.

It's tough to prevent cheating. There should be stricter rules and more enforcement of them, but at this point there is not much so they have to make do.

I actually really want Ghana to go through with Germany, but that's looking unlikely unless the US collapses and Germany gets back on form.

Frankly, I think this is the best World Cup I've seen, so far. We can't take anything for granted, and it's been very high-scoring!
