This website has very few sponsors. Eudemonia, has been the banner ad on this site for as long as I can remember. Maybe you could generate more ad-revenue if you kept new members feeling as if building a high ref count was actually worth while. I have noticed a tremendous amount of people sign up for the site, do a few trades, then never return to it because of situations exactly like this one. Knowing the vindictive nature of people on this site, I wouldn't be surprised if I was issued another warning or banned entirely for defending myself. You guys are in fact the problem with this site.

But it's not overpriced in the opinion of other people buying it. You're more than welcome to offer to buy it at $4 below SCG's buy price, but don't be indignant when no one will sell it to you. What LD did was simply point it out to you. It happens a lot, a card spikes recently, you may have been behind the times on it (I am all the time), and he's letting you know that, "hey, SCG is buying for more than you are, you may want to raise that price." He's not being rude, he's being helpful. The flipside of it is though, if all of your prices are too low, someone could think YOU rude for wasting their time.

This is something that irks me quite a bit. Just because you can't afford cards doesn't mean you are entitled to buy them for less. If you can't afford Modern or Legacy, play Standard. If you can't afford Standard, play Pauper or casual and just play with what you have. But in a way, you're absolutely right, this is a forum for people to buy and sell freely. You're free to buy at a price too low, and they are equally free to refuse to sell anything to you.

If you're just looking for copies to play with, put a note next to your price that this is what you'll pay for cards in played condition and that you're explicitly looking for played cards. There are a lot of people out there that would be willing to sell you a beat up Bribery for less than SCG is buying because SCG won't want it or will give them significantly less.

I don't think this is the case. If I'm serious about selling, I'm going to sell for as much as I can (obviously), but still low enough that it actually sells.

If you score a Lotus for a good price, good for you. No one here will begrudge you of it, so long as you didn't con someone out of it. Then it becomes a different issue altogether regarding the immorality of ripping someone off, but that's a discussion for another thread.

No, it's more about educating members so this place doesn't degrade into another Salvation. Some members are more abrasive about it than others, but I believe, for the most part, it's for the integrity of the community.

I think you're confusing SCG's buy prices with their sell prices. No one here is suggesting you post for SCG's retail price. They're just saying you should probably be willing to pay at least as much as they are.

If I could get more than SCG, I'd happily raise my prices. But I also know that if I'm the same price as them, people will just buy from them instead, they don't need me. On the other hand, if I'm selling BELOW SCG's buylist, I'd very much appreciate it if someone pointed it out to me (though more likely, people would just snap buy them from me).
