need suggestion on how to trade up. I have about 1250 .50-1dollar rares that I used for edh that I want to turn into a modern deck. I know ill have to add a percentage which I'm fine with but what is considered fair? I will be looking to trade for cards anywere from 3-40$ but mostly in the lower range. and any suggestions on anything appreciated thanks guys!

Package them all into a big dealer and use the store credit to buy singles or cash to buy what you need locally or off ebay. .50- 1.00 rares are hard to move by themselves and the likelihood of someone willing to trade down modern staples for .50 rares is even lower.

You can check ebay to see if some cards actually move via BINs or try to list 100 rare lots. Expect to lose quite a bit in shipping/fees though.

SCG game me decent value when I sold the rest of my collection about 8 years ago. Havent touched a magic card since though. I'm not sure who the big dealers are these days but if any are headquartered locally to you, it might be a good place to start. I lived in VA when I sold off so it was only a couple hour drive to SCG in Roanoke.

Shop around! Make a list of what you have and get a quote, worst people will say is no, and the worst that will happen is you get an offer you don't like and you say no.

I don't have patience to wheel and deal. I deal in vintage gaming now and I move off extra stuff on ebay right away.
