There are some people on here that have 150 refs or whatever but when you look its only like 30 MOTL refs. Then I get those idiots insisting I send first. If people don't accept eBay positives, why are we accepting random/created refs?

...because the ref request got sent to an e-mail address and the recipient replied and gave a reference.Just trade based on how many MOTL refs they have. I did. I also wouldn't have a problem with everyone's non-MOTL refs getting removed if things came down to that. __________________ GøÐÐ맧D≡P≡CH≡ MOD≡ I played an American 370HSSV-0773H CRIKEY!

References are there for your information. If you don't want to send first to people with mostly non-MOTL refs, that's fine, it's entirely your choice. If someone wants to consider eBay refs, that's their choice as well. The more information available, the better, no? __________________ Mort was already aware that love made you feel hot and cold and cruel and weak, but he hadn't realized that it could make you stupid. How exactly are people "idiots" for not wanting their hard work that went into trading go to waste?Cut the MOTL elitism... references are references. No matter where they're from, they represent human beings who trade cards. They're not "idiots"... that's just ridiculous. __________________ Eternal EnlightenmentAIM: EvanWithAnS

Are you saying buying and selling shouldn't count? I haven't traded in a while, but doesn't the trade matcher have radio buttons for buyers, sellers and traders?Ebay references are just as good as MOTL references, in my eyes. Even if you disagree, I doubt you'd go as far as to call people "idiots" for respecting them. Would you? __________________ Eternal EnlightenmentAIM: EvanWithAnS

Sure I would. Ebay is 100% different than MOTL. On ebay you ALWAYS pay first, and you have Ebay to police the transaction if things go wrong. You can also generate "legitimate" Ebay feedback for basically nothing, which you can't do on MOTL with the same ease.__________________ ICBM: Successful through Innovation and Determination.

Thing is, it's hard to differentiate randoms from references from sites that are reputable. I do some trading on MTGSalvation, for example, and do use those trades as refs here. I encourage them to join MOTL, but often they don't bother.__________________ Mess with the best, die like the rest. Originally posted by Boltbait: pyr0ma5ta speaks the truth.

Everyone here is different, there are some people who will only consider MTOL refs, while others will consider refs from several trading websites. Some consider ebay feedback the equivlant of a ref, some do not. Why not setup a script that would label where each ref orginiated from, and allow the user to seperate refs from different sources? Ebay refs may be a bit more difficult and possibily impractical, but at least email refs should be able to be seperated without excess difficultly.

I agree, another thing is if someone with 10000 ebay refs rips off someone here, it wont affect their ebay rating and such. also, someone posted about people buying those ebook thingys for 1 cent and accumulating a ton of refs. I dont see a need to refuse them though, if you dont like them just dont trade with said person or ignore them. __________________ your ubb survivor 10 champion!! I have over 590 refs on E-bay but I think the reason a lot of people don't want to allow E-bay refs to count as refs when trading on here is that you can say you are someone else on e-bay if you are not. On here I am crypticfreak1, while on e-bay I am crypticfreakscards, and on top of that on cardshark I am crypticfreak1978. Between all three of those sites I have over 1,000 refs but when I do trades I only go by refs on here because people would wonder why I have 3 different names with three different sites. Telling people you have a lot of refs on e-bay under a different name and even the same name may make people suspicious and they may not want to do a trade at all because of that. You could very easily go on e-bay and find someone who has a ton of refs and then register here with the same name and say that those persons refs are yours. What I would suggest is that if someone wants to use their e-bay refs for a trade you should get their e-bay ID and e-mail them through e-bay to minimize the chances that it is not them.__________________ Jeff Miracola Signed Cards: 717 #46 in refs this week and movin on up I have 1322 out of 2460 common foils.
