With all the recent inquiries about not only very high dollar Magic cards being reproduced and faked to fool the average buyer/trader, even average or just the older OOP cards are now being mass produced to sell off in larger quantities and these ripoff scam artists are making even more money because these fakes can go undetected since people wouldn't expect $20-$50+ dollar cards to be fake.I'm proposing that MOTL have a page dedicated for the average or new Magic player to have a detailed visual guide of what to look for when they want to buy or trade for OOPs and high dollar cards. There are a good few MOTLers who have had experience and can identify fake cards very easily and I'm sure it would be great for a member to have a link to a section of the site that would give a very descritpive and detailed guide to what to look out for and have a comparison of what a real card should look like. I'm sure that the more seasoned veterans of this site may have some fake cards in their possession and could post why the card is fake and what was their experiences and how they can tell a lot easier from high-resolution scans so that they don't have to have the card actually in their hand. Now, I know there's a few sites out there that have a general guide how to identify fakes, but I'm sure with the amount of people we have on here and the experience over the years in identifying fakes, we would be able to compile a better site and have more pictures to show what is and isn't real. Just a suggestion, but what do you people think? __________________ GøÐÐ맧D≡P≡CH≡ MOD≡ 370HSSV-0773H CRIKEY! Atheism is a non-prophet organization.

I've seen this come up in the past, and sooner or later a user posts a link to, say, apathyhouse's guide. It may well be in MOTL's interest to create their own guide, and not be beholden to the graciousness of others.

Why re-invent the wheel? If the information is already out there, I see no need to duplicate the effort. If someone wants to create a post to add more information than is available, that would be great, but otherwise, it already exists, so I don't see the need. __________________ Mort was already aware that love made you feel hot and cold and cruel and weak, but he hadn't realized that it could make you stupid. I'd like to see a thread that had a link to this "wheel" as well as an ongoing list of ebayers that have been spotted as scammers.__________________ |~~My Angels~~l""|"\__, |~My #1 Angel~"l'_|'_|_|) |(@)(@)""**|(@)(@)*|(@)

Well, how about links then from MOTL that would go to those sites? Also, I think there needs to be a visual guide or at least a direct link to sites that will tell you the condition of the cards for buy/sell/trade lists. http://prices.blackborder.com/cgi-bin/prices/help/condition.cgi?sid=tEkq9z8c Blackborder.com has a good visual guide so why not make one for ourselves or link to them or some other site? __________________ GøÐÐ맧D≡P≡CH≡ MOD≡ 370HSSV-0773H CRIKEY! I'm not a fan of making any condition guide semi-official status by providing a link. Grading is a very personal issue, and a standard that some people like may be very poor to others. If someone has any concerns about grading, they should be communicating with others and providing information about their grading standard of choice.__________________ Mort was already aware that love made you feel hot and cold and cruel and weak, but he hadn't realized that it could make you stupid. If you ask twink permission, I bet he would allow it to be hosted here additionally. Though it honestly wouldn't be too much trouble to author our own version.

i dont think its the fact that it would be a hassle to make one, its what standard to you use?? as Nder has pointed out, everyone grades differently, i personnaly dont use a site to grade and if i do its probably arsenals guide while most people prefer blackborders, its very hard to find a common medium.
