Given the large amount of non-English speakers who trade on this forum, I think having specific translators for foreign trades might be a good idea. The thread that gave me this idea was in the BTA concerning an American-Portuguese trade. It's seemed to me a lot recently that the biggest barrier against foreign trades is miscommunication and poor understanding. So, what I am suggesting is that if you want to be recognized as a Trade or Thread Translator for those who do not speak English very well, please post here with the language you're the best at (or multiple languages if you're multilingual) so that we may call upon you for assistance to prevent major issues from popping up. Likewise, a translator who knows about the culture he/she is translating for might be able to help by asking pointed questions that the traders may not think to ask. There can be more than one translator per language, it may be better that way in the long run so no one person is getting inundated with messages and the load can be distributed evenly. To qualify to be a translator, you must speak enough English to have understood this topic . To start, I speak fluent Spanish. I'm proficient in Arabic but I doubt that will be an issue here. I also nominate Mr.C for our Portuguese translator. :P Hope this helps. This thread can also be found in the General Discussion forum. __________________ Server: Khadgar Race: Troll Class: Elemental Shaman Rank: Blood Guard Guild: Legends Name: Kurraj

MOTL has stated before that it's policy is English or nothing. Either learn English or move to a different site. Not sure if that still applys...

I don't care what their policy is on foreigners...seeing as that Brazilian kid has not been banned, as aren't any of the other not-so-well-spoken-in-English folks, they obviously don't enforce this policy very much. If you don't have a language to volunteer, please don't post here. __________________ Server: Khadgar Race: Troll Class: Elemental Shaman Rank: Blood Guard Guild: Legends Name: Kurraj

Being a native French speaker, I'm up for doing French if the idea takes off. It sounds like a great idea to me, by the way, so long as there are some sort of guidelines to ensure that people don't just use the service automatically. I think that people should be making the effort to trade/communicate themselves first--perhaps translation should only be provided (well, offered) for finalized trade summaries that both parties can agree or disagree with. I think that there need to be limits or guidelines of some sort.__________________ "I have heard the mermaids singing, each to each. I do not think they will sing to me." -T.S.
