Yeah, that's a pretty good comparison if you have reason to say that. I realize that it's not a very nice thing to admit to, but we're getting lost in the argument again: let's at least be honest about what we want to achieve. If it's all about protecting people, then it should be clear that the means are excessive and not wholly fair (at least not according the rules' current wording). If, on the other hand, this is (at least partly) about retribution, then it makes a lot of sense to try to "run scammers off" (not, of course, that there's any reason that it works--the offender can just delete the original post and start over, something that can't be done if a mod closes the thread). In any case, I don't think that we gain anything with vague rules that don't refer to anything concrete (such as the Price Guide or other MOTL rules)--we just wind up with a loose collection of contradictory edicts. Obviously, I don't think any less of you guys for supporting the current rules, but you have to realize that as this rule currently stands, it can be pretty easily seen as vindictive and excessive (which is why I think that it needs to be toned down--it leaves a bad impression). EDIT: Typo. EDIT 2: Again, this isn't meant as a personal attack. What I'm trying to point out is that this is the interpretation that the rule as it sands lends itself to most immediately in my mind (which is why I posted here and why I think that it needs to be changed). __________________ "I have heard the mermaids singing, each to each. it dont matter how many refs you have people will try and rip i only have 18 refs (so still count myself as a noob) but i am in negotiations with a fellow member and see for your self (this member has 0 refs) HIS ----- Original Message ----- ok sounds good..email me with the confirmed trade plus ur addy...the only thing is i would prefer simul send because of 2 reasons..one is ur outside of the u.s.a n 2nd is...im sendin my foil dci spirit monger..which i just got over the weekend at the grand-prix mass...so lmk ok' thanx MINE ----- Original Message ----- honestly i would like the simu send option but i have been ripped 3 times in 20 trades on this site so im sorry but i must insist that you send first check all of my refs to see my honesty i will even throwin something for sending first (i usually send a bonus foil or something like that as a thank you for sending) Cheers Evil-C i have emailed you already HIS ----- Original Message ----- dude...didn't u read my rules...i really strongly think we should do simul-send...yeah i kno how u feel.ive been ripped before too..so i kno the feeling..but its cool wit me..lets just simul-send..ok kool thanxMINE ----- Original Message ----- hey i did read your rules hey, I came back in to magic this year after a 1 1/2 off.so im back for some serious trading.so here are some of my cards, and the ones i need.plus my rules.so please lets trade, and have fun... Rules: 1.No..i repeat No! rippers... 2.I would prefer simul-send..if you live out-side the U.S.A 3.Have fun trading. 4.if we trade please send in top loaders.thanx you state that you prefer simu send (rule 2) i have emailed you already HIS ----- Original Message ----- yeah kno thats great you have more ref's then me..but that still doesn't change the fact that you live out-side the usa.and this isn't my first merry-go-round with online trading either.so i kno what it feels like to have been ripped off before..so please no worries here. okay..lets just honor my simple request of simul-send and everything will be fine .i can understand your not trying to be a prick okay. thanx MINE ----- Original Message ----- sorry dude i cant take the chance if you had like 10 refs then sure id simu but on 0 you are not going to find anyone who will do it so either its you send first or we cant trade im sorry but thats my policy i have refs you have 0 so i cant do a simusend HIS ----- Original Message ----- ok ..hmm...how about can u pick something other then my spiritmonger(foil-dci alt-art)...and then we have a deal for me sending 1st...lmk ok So we negotiate another deal and he replies with sent April 03, 2007 08:47 PM ________________________________________ hmmm.ok no-prob then ok i would really prefer simul-send.sence you live out-side the usa.i kno u have more refs then me but,i i would only do simul-send trading..ok..im sorry if this frustates you a bit..lmk ok if ok..lmk and send me an e-mail of the trade, plus your addy....wait...i think ya did that already?!...lol
these kind of responses make me on the edge he has 0 and is trying to get a simu do i count him as a ripper or a noob who dont know better? the reason why i havent ridiculed him yet is that we all start at 0 (unless i missed the free 100 ref pass) and we work from there these have been pm's so there is no chance for mass ridicule from other members but if it were on my list would people flame him? we have rules for a reason and by becoming MOTLers we agree to abide by the MOTL decree if that gives us the right to shame wrong doers then so be it i will accept any flaming for my wrongdoings as should any other member (with 100 refs or 0) __________________ One bone broken for every twig snapped underfoot

Evil-C, the ridicule rule won't help you in your case because your trade belongs to the H.W forum. The ridicule rule only applies to the T/A forum. However, I do have a question for you. If the other guy posted his rules in his list about the not sending first outside of USA rule, why do you still post on his thread? Do you expect that because you have more refs than him that he is supposed to change his rules for you? MOTL doesn't state that ref determines sending. People post their own rules on their list because not everyone follows the same rules. I would expect that if you post on someone's thread, it means you have read his rules and that you are okay with them. Otherwise, it's your option to find someone else to trade with. I don't necessary agree that the guy is trying to rip you. He probably prefers not to send outside of US, hence the simul-send rule. It seems he is willing to send first if traded within US. This is another reason which I don't think the ridicule rule is a good idea. You run into the danger of having people jumping into conclusions and start accusing others as rippers just because they don't follow the common practices.

Am I the only one that knows of more than one market base besides the MOTL price guide?I mean, theres cardshark, findmagiccards.com, and others. MOTL guide is not the only one that should be reviewed. Thank you, QG

Uhhh...what exactly does this have to do with a very old discussion of the rule regarding harassment? I fail to see any relevance to the discussion you posted on or a suggestion for changes to MOTL. __________________ There's no need to fear, UNDERDOG is here! All your Gruul Nodorogs are belong to me. I believe he thinks he is being harassed for not using the MOTL price guide. __________________ Member Since 03/28/2001 8500+ posts 4th in posts in Ontario 8th in Refs in Ontario
