A suggestion for the price guides. It would be easier and more convenient if they could be organized like this list here http://www.anycraze.com/magicsearch_results.asp (the prices are different I know, it's not the same as the MOTL guides here)

See how you can sort them by different things, in price descending or ascending order, or set, rarity or whatever. I was trying to get a list of every card in standard (type 2) from lowest to highest price, but that's not possible with the plain text lists that are here.

Is there a way to copy and paste it so every entry gets into the right column? Or would you painstakingly have to copy each one each of the 6 (or whatever) column values one by one?

Also, how is updating this list performed? I'd guess they have a script that scours completed ebay auctions, there are exactly (according to anycraze) 13573 cards in magic (of any set) how fast would this script or whatever have to be to go through all those ebay auctions and update the list.

If Excel doesn't work out, I could also write a script that would put the list in the order I want.

Excel works perfectly fine. I'll walk you through it...

Go to the price guides page and find the guide you want. Underneath the link there is another link that says, "Pipe-Delimited Format", right-click and save as.

Open Excel then goto "open file" find the file you saved it will be a .txt so make sure you have chose all files instead of excel files.

Open the file and a small box will pop up on asking how you want it imported. Delimited should automatically be marked, click next, in the delimiters check "Other" and put the pipe (Shift + forward slash) in the empty box then click finish, everything will be in the corresponding column.

Yes...you can also copy-paste in something like Textpad, make a search/replace of | (pipe) for \t (tab) then copy directly in excel.

How do I do this exactly? I expect if I try to copy it into Excel everything won't be in it's proper column, I tried doing what the poster above you suggested but that didn't turn out right either, it's still scrambled.

knightowl's instructions work well. They'll get you just what you need. Let us know if you're having problems following them or there's something that confuses you.
