I have a want list that includes cards for my sets of 9th edition and 8th edition. When I am looking at someones Have list and click "Compare your list" at the top of the page, it always lists cards that are in core sets as 10th edition.

This is a real annoyance when I dont need anything from 10th, but 9th and 8th. Is there any way to do a little programming to include sets in the Have List?

Or my suggestion:
When the computer finds a match of the cards, it lists the entire line of text that card is on.

Example:

Have list:
1x Akroma, Angel of Wrath
3x Quirion Dryad (Planeshift) (1x Heavy Play)
2x Damnation

If you had Quirion Dryad in your want list, it would turn up as this:

Cards this person has that you want:
Quirion Dryad (10th)

Under my suggestion it would show the entire line of text:

3x Quirion Dryad (Planeshift) (1x Heavy Play)

Is this possible?

Please note that you must do two things to make sure the set is recognized:
1. List each card, including its set, on its own line.
2. Use the official Oracle abbreviations. If you are unsure about an abbreviation, it's best to search the price guide for the card you're posting, and use the one listed there.

The problem with this, of course, is that it is only really effective if a lot of people do it. However, it has to start somewhere, so I encourage you to list your cards in this manner, especially in your haves, and hopefully more people will follow your lead.

This is the reason why you keep seeing cards listed as being from 10th instead of the proper set.

Basically, if everyone started using the proper format it would work great. Making that happen is just pretty unlikely. Encouraging others to use that format is a good start, though.

Not sure if making the trade matcher display the whole line is feasible or not. If I understand the system right (and that's a big can of worms there) then it would involve stuffing a lot more information into the database, and that's not a good thing.
