I'm one to talk(since I've done it haha), but I have seen numerous posts in the "suggestion" thread that could be answered by seasoned vets on these boards. Granted, I am sure you guys don't want a bunch of people that truely don't know what they're talking about replying to "help" threads. But it has come up twice that I've had an issue but it wasn't really a suggestion, and I'm pretty sure someone whose been here for a year or two could have answered.

Perhaps a "HELP" thread right above the Suggestion thread is in order?

Thanks

I think a far simpler solution is you can:

A) PM/email a moderator/exp member with your question.

or

B) Stop in the MOTL chat room (conveniently located EFNET IRC channel #MOTL), ask a question and within 15 mins someone will usually respond.

we tried this with the trade valuation forum.. failed miserably.. everyone wants to give their opinion.. most unfounded and inaccurate, based off zero research or experience...

I dont think I want to see this on a larger scale.

To the first solution, not every does IRC, plus thats one more thing I have to add to my favorites.... /sigh

To the second solution... Well, like I said in my post: "A bunch of people that truely don't know what they're doing."

Perhaps lock it to Admins? Sure PMing a Mod is cool, but that's one more PM they get than they should have to... Put a help forum up, and just like the suggestions thread, the Mods can come in take a peek, toss out a reply and be done with it. It keeps all the messages right here, n PLAIN view of everyone.

It would help mroe than hurt.

PROS:
1) More conviented than PMs and Chat because the topic will stay, and other's can utilize the "search" function to see if anyone else has had the problem before.
2) The thread keeps track of all the replies and the original post unlike a Chat program which will eventually rotate off the screen, or even worse, people coming in later won't see it where as the thread will be in plain sight and the replies will all be documented and lain out.
3) Puts a little less work on Mods than a spam of PMs.
4) Lets people know there is a place, IN THE OPEN to get their problems solved quickly.

CONS:
1) Anyone can post replies, which could lead to false information(easily combatted by saying: "Ok, I tried what you said and it didn't work." Next...)
2) Just another thread... Eh, we can never have enough of them heh.
3) Ummm cons for this are hard, I can't seem to think of any compared to Pros...

Anyways, this is the suggestion thread, I was just tossing it out one, thanks for the replies. Also, I just re-read the replies and notices something "like this" was tried... Perhaps the use of Karma and such could come into play. Or perhaps a different "score" could be used. I mean, what looks better to an admin than a user helping out another user eh???

Positive karma, or points, or score for good answers, and "GTFO of my thread" scores for people who give bad answers, heh.
