MOTL Refs are currently sorted alphabetically, which is of limited use.Refs should be sorted by date so that you can see how many recent / older refs a user has.

Having them sorted the way they are forces people to make a little effort and hopefully dig a little deeper into them. Reviewing references for date, comments, number of references of the commenter and such are all key parts of the equation. Just sorting by date seems like it would contribute to someone just looking at the top few refs and maybe not even looking at the rest or at least just skimming them.Having the ref lists resortable by various options (date, rating, value, referencer's ref count, etc.) might be of some use in allowing easier reviewing of multiple aspects, but keying off of a single field seems counterproductive to me. Ref date is actually one of the least-useful fields to sort by, IMO. A lot of traders here, myself included have had relatively long periods of non-trading, making the date sort misleading. It can be useful in identifying hacked accounts, but those are pretty rare these days. I pay much more attention to the number of refs of the person responding and any comments made, as those hold a lot more weight to me.

I would agree with that. Most of my refs are from 2001 or older (traded a lot in high school). I stopped playing around the time Odyssey came out, and then picked it back up again about four months ago. However, all of my old refs were perfect fives, and all of my new ones are too. I see no reason why I would have gotten LESS trustworthy as I have gotten older, or why anyone would think so.Also, some of the people I traded with back in the day have since been banned, and someone actually made a comment to the effect that that reflects poorly on me, which just doesn't make any sense. After all, I completed MY end of the bargain with them, and then our business was concluded. No further association.
