I am pretty sure that no international trader only checks lists that have the icon; so what is the real value that it adds? Oftentimes, people will forgot to check it when posting a new list - this inaccuracy also adds to the lacking significance of the tool on the forum. People will post in their rules if they only trade within the US (/Canada). The International Trader icon is outdated, and serves (IMO) no purpose except to confuse. This website is perhaps still mainly US but the international presence is much more than a minority these days. Because of this, NOT trading internationally should be the exception (and in practice it already is) rather than the other way around as it is now.
There you go. Thoughts?

As an international trader myself, I use the icon a lot to sort through which H/W lists i spend my precious time wieving. If people don't wish to send overseas, and thus click the "international trader" box, there's no need for me to spend time browsing their list. I understand and respect their opinion not to trade overseas. It could be time-issues, transportation costs, fear of being ripped. The icon makes it easier for everyone in my opinion.I don't see how this funcionality is out dated.

Your comment actually proved my point. Clicking the box is not meant to exclude international traders as you are apparently considering in interpretation. It is supposed to include international traders. I take a random look at the H/W section and see 12 of, what, 50 lists on the first page with a globe? I am pretty sure that not the majority of those lists will only send within the US. I know that it's not all that important or whatever. It's just the IMO obviously weird logic that makes it worth adjusting.

Unlike you, I actually believe that people deliberately choose not to tick the "international trader" box. Following your example, I think very few beside the 12 traders with the icon would be willing to trade overseas. At least that's my experience from 6 or 7 years at this site. I don't see how I prove your point? Your theory is that people in general don't understand or use the "international trader" functionality as intended? I think you're wrong in that assumption - but it is hard to tell without factual statistics. I guess in the end it comes down to personal experience with international trades. If it's default setting should be "international trader" ON, is another discussion. I might agree with you on that. In any case, I don't see a reason to remove a functionality if some users benefit from it. I may miss out on a few trade oppportunities because a few users forgot to tick the box, and thus being willing to trade overseas anyway. But for the most part, the icon helps me save some time browsing lists. I'm willing to miss out on those few trades. EDIT: Oh, I see what you meant: quote: If people don't wish to send overseas, and thus click the "international trader" box
.This is just me being bad at english (second language). I DO understand the functionality. I meant: "If people don't wish to send overseas, and as a result do not tick the box, ..." My bad, sorry for the confusion it caused.

I tend to agree with Lord Titi. There are many more willing to send overseas from states than there are ticked off "international trader"So it can be used to quickly find those that definitly will send, but you will miss out on a lot that would send to you if you just opened their H/W list. I find myself clicking on all and browse through the rules section to see if they will send.
