Hi

Is there any way to search what country people are from when looking for trades? I only want to trade with fellow australians due to time and cost

Only way to do it would be to search the member list. Then search by location. Then scroll through clicking on the H/W icons when you find them. Problem is, a ton of people don't put a location or they'll put something trying to be witty or funny that's not actually their location.

So really, nope.

Also, due to the location field being free-text, there are many different ways that people list where they are. Some do just country, some use just city or state, some a combination of city, state/province/etc., country and in random orders. There's just no way to reliably figure out where most members are programmatically.

What if one of the programmers working on updating the site actually changed it just from loose text to a dropdown select box with a list of countries, alphabetically, and then installed Search by Country? I have wanted a Country search (or more specifically a filter) for like 10 years here. This would be my number one request, actually. Filter results by country.

Seems like the easy thing to do.

Change the City, State, Country input to 1 text input and 2 drop downs and erase everyone's location in the database.

Then forcefully log everyone out. When they log in, redirect them to their profile page with a notice about the change.
