Nobody wants to play casual against stasis. The only reason to build a deck that isn't fun is to win prizes and your initial deck list indicates that you are not planning to do so.

Ouch dude, don't listen to him I have been playing Stasis for a while and I think it's fun to play, it doesn't matter what anybody else thinks of it, you play your deck so you can have fun right?I would play mono-blue myself because it's easier with a deck like this where you are screwing yourself for mana to have to worry about only one color. I will show you my decklist with points on why each card is chosen which should give you plenty of ideas. Card Drawing Ancestral Vision - Great first turn, cheap card drawing that goes off alot of time later when you need it for free cards. Brainstorm - Duh. Stasis Manipulation/Upkeep Chain of Vapor - Play at end of opponent's turn to scoop Stasis and return soemthing of their's while you are at it, and you get one full untap step (just make sure to replay Stasis) Chronatog - Great creature with his skip turn ability to avoid Stasis upkeep and keep the heat on them once you are setup. Reset - if you can get any, this Legends card allows you a full untap of lands. Forsaken City - this land is how you pay for Stasis upkeep most of the time. Lockdown Gigadrowse - helps tap stuff that actually do save lands up and play, like a big creature. Ebony Owl Netsuke - How you win the game, I play the deck as Legacy (so I can have Brainstorms) and Black Vise is banned in Legacy. Countermagic I choose Counterspell, Mana Leak and Daze.

Until they see you pulling out your Statis deck and say "Nah, I don't wanna play Magic right now, maybe I'll go do something else".

Fine, if you're friends like it, that's cool, they may want to see a psychiatrist though.Anyway, the best Stasis decks abuse the cards that return Islands to your hand to keep paying for Stasis. The two best are: 4 Gush 4 Daze (Replace Force Spike) also Ensnare in some quantity can be good versus agressive decks, or creatures with Vigiliance. I would run as a general base. 4 Statis 4 Root Maze 0-4 Chronotag 0-2 Black Vise 4 Daze 4 Force of Will 3 Muddle The Mixture 2 Chain of Vapour 1 Ensnare 4 Gush 4 Preordain 1 Brainstorm 1 Ponder 0-4 Forsaken City 4 Tropical Island 3 Misty Rainforest 2 Flooded Strand 2 Polluted Delta 5 Island

that's what i like to see =]Ensnare is definetely going in as my sideboard that card is awesome i think im gonna stick to counterspells until i get force of wills. Tropical Islands Are Beast But not a really a need i suppose ill get them when i get some more money to blow aha. i think adding 2-4 chronatog on my sideboard would be really good to if howling mines wont work. I like the idea of decking my opponent an if its a close decking i can pick up a elixer of immortality an be fine. Daze An Gush are amazing cards however i'm using rescue's once in awhile to bounce my stasis if i ever need too. So returning lands to my hand is not needed especially when i have root maze in play but thanks! =]

Keep in mind, you don't need Howling Mine or Elixer of Immortality to deck your opponent when you have Chronatog out. Once he's out and you have the Stasis/Root Maze lock, you can skip your turn over and over until he decks himself.Unless he plays a card that can remove one of your lock pieces without using mana (Abolish, Sunscour, etc), he won't be doing much of anything. And even if he does, Daze/FoW should counter it (I would suggest Foil in place of FoW/Counterspell for your deck). I would really emphasis Gush to compliment Foil, it lets you keep your Stasis lock going UNTIL you find Root Maze, then you setup the permanant lock with Stasis/Root Maze/Cronotog. Until you get the compelete lock, all you need to slow them down is Statis and to keep playing Islands every turn, which Gush, Daze and Ensnare let you do easily.

Very similar to my own stasis, although I will need to pick of 4 of the ebony owls =). As for your deck, I find that Frozen Ether is essential, rendering any lands they draw useless, and defending you from your nemesis, creatures with vigilance. Additionally, Black vice is as good a first turn play as can be made in a deck of this sort. hope this helps
