I learned something here, and I have been trading, buying, and sellin online for quite some years. I also learned a few new things lately, which I will share (unfortunately for you )everyone know how to put a trace on a piece of mail? You go to the post office and give them the address and date you shipped the piece of mail. They will send a message along the same route to be signed off on, there are chances that it will return unfound, but, I have had cards show up twice, the day after, I offered to do this for someone who did not get their cards. Kind of old school, but it does some times work. If you have the mail weighed a stamp printed out, and not just use a stamp, you can not take the piece of mail and remove it from the sight of the postal worker. That would be tampering with the US mail, which is a felony, but, you can take a pic of the addressed piece of mail and send a copy of that pic to the person you are trading with. That last part, I was taught and learned today. I will be taking pics of all out going mail items. Keep your post office receipts. If they were weighed and stamped with the sticker, even if they dont, depends on the post office, they show the zip code that you sent to, and the date and time, which will help with your trace if you need it. I hope it is all understandable, I do tend to ramble

With the recent usage of shipping companies by Russian rippers, what can we do to spot these tactics? Other than checking the address on Google Maps before sending.

I use a contract post office and they print the entire address on my receipt for me. I've never had to use it, but it's nice knowing I have that backup for the small price of simply saving my receipt.

That is addressed by this part of the original post: "Look at the dates of the references. Do they have none or very few from the past year or so? Be wary of a hacked account." That's not to say that a remailer can't be used to hack, and we're trying to figure out what to do there, but the main thing is that so far the problems have come from hacked accounts that could have been identified by the steps above. __________________ There's no need to fear, UNDERDOG is here! All your Gruul Nodorogs are belong to me.
