Not that it was really a problem, though. I admit that the banning helps out my own pet deck (linked below), which was falling on harder times, but I still don't see why it was necessary or even why it's beneficial. __________________ "I have heard the mermaids singing, each to each. I don't like this at all --- Combo decks are hindered now when good old fashioned aggro decks are winning already!? I guess it's time to sleeve up Lands.dec and start sweeping everyone :P

To those happy mystical tutor is gone, I think you guys are supporting bad decisions that will ultimately hurt legacy. This has been the worst magic news I've heard in a long time.

I'm not happy mystical is banned. I'm just happy LED isn't. I also don't think the banning of mystical will hurt legacy as much as their announcement that they don't want to support legacy as it makes them no money so they created a new extended format will. Hopefully their new extended format fails harder than the old one. Extended hasn't been fun in years and I doubt people want to go back to a format dominated by faeries.

My favorite deck of all time is now legal in legacy! Haha. It would get stomped to **** but grim monolith being legal makes thran dynamo, voltaic key, city of traitors and ancient tomb a whole lot better.

Doesn't really matter. Seems like legacy support is going to go out the window anyway

Stock up on those Zen fetches. Although you're probably referring to how the fetches won't be very good anyway without the rav duals. Does anyone else see this as a preemptive move for that new rumored format to replace legacy? Seems to make sense in light of that.
Seems like dealers just might have a field day in between now and when that format shows up.

Why does everyone seem to think the format hinged upon Mystical Tutor? There are plenty of non-blue decks (and even some running blue) doing just fine without it. I personally like the changes; I think adding the Monolith makes it far more interesting.EDIT: As for support, I've been playing Legacy for a long time, and I'm used to no support for it. It's nothing new.

I have a feeling the mystical tutor ban was directly a shot to reanimator. But within the crossfire, ANT got caught. I completely understand them wanting to bring reanimator down a level, but it hurts ANT pretty bad too which is unfortunate.
The problem with legacy support isn't directly wotc, but everyone else. If wotc starts pushing the new extended format as the big alternate to standard, it wont take much time for everyone else to follow suit. I would be willing to put money on SCG 10k's being changed to standard/extended. Also, here is a cut from the other article that was released today: "What I would like to see is this format become more widely played than Legacy. Legacy is a great format and I love playing it but the fact is that Legacy has its limits. There are only so many dual lands out there."

Ripping apart extended: **** you, Wizards. I don't play extended, but think of all the people who do. Half the bleeding format is gone now, as are all the major decks in it. The only way this could become good news is if this new castrated extended replaces standard and the rumored "superextended" is put into place. I always felt like standard was too short a time anyways, and it'll make people feel a lot better about dropping money on stuff like Jace when they know they'll get 3 and a half years out of it instead of 1 and a half.Of course, this all hinges upon wizards making both those moves, and there's no indication they will. So for now this sucks. On the banned/restricted: This is too beautiful. I just sold my mystical tutor and held on to my (comparatively) worthless Grim Monolith. I get to make bank both ways now __________________ OGB: If I'm paying $8.00 for a Revised Disk, it better come with a reach around.dallaswilliams: That's because you are awful and don't it's potential

I hate wizard so much right now that there isn't a word that I can use to express it. Forget about collecting magic cards. I won't open another pack of magic unless it's for draft or sealed.

They may draw in new players but I'm hopefully not the only player who has been playing for ten years who is disgusted with the last couple years of WOTC decisions.
