Today's Arcana includes a mention that Sol Ring is such a staple among Commander decks that they are putting one in every one of the new Commander decks thay will be releasing.__________________ "If you're right 90% of the time, why quibble about the other 3% ?""I intend to live forever. Price Drop on Sol Ring, or at least a halt in the price increase. __________________ Member Since 03/28/2001 10000+ posts 3rd in posts in Ontario 15th in posts on MOTL Top 5 in Refs in Ontario (by people who location posted)

I was kind of like aww man at first about the price dropping, but like before EDH my sol rings weren't worth a whole lot for the longest time anyway. Plus I got 10 of those decks on the way so that means I just got 10 Sol Rings. Kind of offset my woes. Sort of bummed that now EVERYONE will have a lightning greaves for all of their decks. I really hate that card.

I hope this doesn't start a trend...I'd rather they just banned it if it's such a thoughtless auto-include.

It's been a trend for a LONG time now. think Duel-Decks / Fire & Ice / Knights vs. Dragons / Whatever the name of that set is that has the 2x Stoneforge in it / etc... Hasbro cares about it's own profit margin, not the secondary market. It "has to stay in business" afterall :S.

The problem I have with that. How is the secondary market suffering? All sorts of random cards are worth tons of cash, there's $80 cards in standard (well there was...), and everything seems (from my perspective) worth way more than in years past. I mean, all inflation aside, I remember wishing I had a set of Finkels at $12 a piece, now people buy/sell/trade $12 cards at the drop of a hat. With the staggering increase in value for Legacy staples that constantly spring up whenever SCG says so, and just about every casual card gaining value because of EDH, how is the secondary market getting hosed? I can't imagine how much money some of these dealers made on the Legacy boon, and now EDH is more popular than ever, I'm sure a ton of those crap rares just sitting in their coffers that people wanna buy now are raking in the funds as well. Not trying to come off as hostile here, but basically these things didn't happen by accident. The company has increased their profit margins, while still looking out for the secondary markets as well, at least in my opinion.

Actually yes I do think it was. But, isn't it worthy of being a rare? or even a Mythic? __________________ Your 2008 and 2010 Motl Siskel & Ebert award winner!Motl Facebook Contact Group

I disagree with this. Even the way the article was worded made me feel like i don't like them.Special set rarity means nothing but if Ring were actually reprinted in Standard for whatever reason it would very obviously be a mythic... and still restricted. What kind of hypothetical question is that?

Huh? My complaint is simply that i disagree. And in the lines of those who think Ring is being printed to help sales, i don't like the attitude the article was written. It was a crappy attitude that just gives me the impression they are trying really hard to sound cool when really they know and we know it's stupid. Like, they overcompensate. Not sure how to explain it.

complaining for the sake of complaining. No one is making you buy these. If you don't like them, move on.

I was sharing my opinion which happens to be negative. A form is just for discussion, i just mentioned i don't like them printing a B/R super power card in masses.Everyone here seems to have a big problem with people not liking something. No one is making you reply to anything i say so just move on. Funny how that works both ways.

I found it irritating that your offering to the discussion amounted to "I was annoyed with how the article was written". I commented on that, that's what forums are for.
Everyone here seems to have a big problem with people not liking something. No one is making you reply to anything i say so just move on. Funny how that works both ways. Opinions are like leeches; there's way too many of them and they all suck. You don't need to get so nettled that other people disagree with what you say __________________ "I never got any respect at all. Simply complaining isn't discussing. If you gave some reasoning behind your opinion it would be different. I'm sure arguments the way of, "they ruin the nostalgic and monetary value of sol ring" or something similar would at least give a discussion point. If you simply post that you don't like it and you're not sure why, what more could you expect then my reply? These are good for the format. Its giving more people an entry option into the format. Many of my friends have taken quite a while to track down odd cards to make the format playable for them. If there is an easy source for someone to drop down $30 and have fun w/ their friends, I'm not sure how that can be all that bad.
