What is Dark Beta and how do you distinguish it from regular beta? Any one have side by side pictures to clarify?

There was a post on this a while ago, but I can't seem to find it now. Anyway, Dark Beta are very good counterfeit cards. They look really good, and at quick glance can easily pass as the real thing. The giveaway is the text in the text box is a little blurry, and that's the best way to spot them. The tough part is they aren't necessarily beta cards, as the card in question a while back was a Candelabra. They also are printed a little darker than normal cards, similar to a darker printed beta card (if you've ever see that, they're just a shade darker than normal, nothing otherwise special about those), thus the name I believe.'Slinga know a bunch about these, he may have a picture or 2 he could share.

From the limited information I have read, it sounds like these are some of the most difficult fakes to spot. Essentially, it sounds like, the ink may be a little darker and the text may be a little blurry ... but the problem is there are real cards that suffer from these actual print defects. What's the estimated number of sheets printed of these fakes?

No one knows how many there are. They're only hard to spot if you don't know what you're doing. If you put one next to a real Beta card (or LG/AN/AQ/UL) you can tell easily.__________________ Looking for misprinted Commander decks. Got one? Talk to me.

Does anyone have a scan of dark beta they can link for me? I wasn't aware of dark beta until fairly recently and would really like to see what they look like.

Thanks for the link Slinga. I remember that thread but never made a connection. There defintely seems like there is something off with that Moat. It's hard to tell from that particular scan, but I would be intereted to see if you can find the roset pattern. Almost looks like a bad xerox copy. I used to have a beta Sea that scanned exactly like that one. If the print quality of this Moat is the same in person as that Sea I had, then yes, it is very obvious it is fake.I'm particularly interested because I just came across two UNL Recalls that vary just the slighest in color. Alone, both look completely authentic. But if you look very closely, they have minor differences. If anyone is interested, I can eventually get scans.
