Topic: Concerns with Arabian Nights boosters

Hi. Getting me a pack of Arabian nights. Gonna cost 200$+. My concerns are that somewhere I remember hearing/reading that the packs are transparent and the front card can be seen in the right circumstances. I have also heard that the front card is usually the uncommon (only 8 cards in a pack so only 1, maybe 2 uncommons I believe) and the seller would know it's not a Bazaar. Can anyone confirm this? Are there other things I should be concerned with buying this booster? Also, this is the first time buying a rare booster so if anyone has any tips on how to ensure that the boosters haven't been tampered with that would be highly appreciated.

Uh, if you want to buy a pack to have a chance at cracking a Bazaar, just go out and buy a bazaar for like 160-170, and save yourself the money.__________________ #2 in posts from British Columbia!Got any Portuguese Foils? Post on my list or email me at valter.cid@gmail.com !

Old packs are searchable, yes. In fact, you can see every single card that's in the pack, not just the front card. Chances are, you'll be buying a searched pack. The value of it is simply as a collector item; there is very little chance of it containing anything worthwhile. The only exception would be if you physically saw whomever you're buying it from open a sealed box and hand you a pack from it.

As mentioned above, the only way to know for certain that it wasn't searched is to watch them open a sealed box in front of you.I bought a pack for $40 many moons ago only because the box was opened (unsealed) in front of me, and I pulled a LoA. Like C said, just buy the Bazaar, don't mess around.

Thanks for the info guys. I'm actually not just buying for a bazaar though, I legitimately want a pack of AN to open. I just don't want a pack that's been trifled with

I remember when AN came out, and they are definitely correct. It's very possible to see every card, including the rare, without opening the pack.

I have some Fallen Empires packs I could sell you. Almost as old and I guarantee they are unsearched.

If I were going to ever do that (which I wouldn't, since there's basically only two cards that even come close to getting you your $200 back), I'd do as coasterdude mentioned and buy a pack from someone that you see open a sealed box. It may be a hard find and a long wait before you come across something like this, but buying a loose pack otherwise will almost guarantee that it's been searched.

there are a few "clues" to see if it is searched like looking at the crimp on the pack and seeing if it is really "unstuck"also the corners of the pack, if they look "worn" then they have been searched i hope this makes sense

It's true, there usually is some minor damage to the pack after it's been searched. However, if it's done really well, you won't be able to tell, unless you really know what you're looking for (i.e., you're a pack searching bastard yourself).

I would just ask him what the rare is and pay him a fair price for the booster based on that. __________________ |My Angels~My P9 l""|"\__, |~~My #1 Angel~~l'_|'_|_|) |(@)(@)""***|(@)(@)**|(@)

The Booster I'm buying is from Trollandtoad.comSeems like a legit and reputable dealer. Not buying it from some dude I don't know. Anyone else have a better idea? Smart-ass replies need not apply here BTW kids.

they seem to have several NM versions of library/juzam/bazaar in stock.. wich either means they have cherry picked there packs.. or there ok with there stock and have no reason to cherry pick more. could also explain why there out of stock of sealed boxes and only have loose packs.

I am curious. Why spend $200+ to buy 1 Arabian Nights booster when the best card is Bazaar ($200+), and the next few top cards cannot even bring back the pack price??? LOA ($180), Juzam ($100), Diamond Valley ($85)

He wants the thrill of opening the pack...er something like that. I'd stay away from troll and toad, too, if you're looking for an unsearched pack.

I wouldn't buy this booster. Crack newer packs and enjoy the thrill there -- in the meantime, pick up the older cards you want as singles like previous posters have recommended.Just trying to protect you from an Aladdin's Lamp or something. Best of luck either way.

Or it could be that sealed AN boxes are extremely rare. I couldn't find anyone with them in stock and there are none on Ebay.

Does T&T have a reputation for selling searched packs?

I've never purchased from them. Even if they don't, what's stopping them from acquiring the packs from someone who does?

Opening old packs isn't that fun. In fact, it's usually really depressing. Only buy an old pack if you want it for a collection to keep sealed (I keep one booster along with every card in the set as a 'complete set'). Assume any single pack is searched, unless you see the box unwrapped in front of you. It's too easy and temptingly lucratice for whoever had the pack before you to search it, even the most reputable stores probably already searched any old boosters they have (they would be stupid not too).

Anyone that is telling the original poster to not buy the sealed pack because of dollar value reasons is wrong. He is puchasing the pack for the EXPERIENCE of opening the pack, so that he can say "hey, I opened an AN pack!" and be in the fewer than 1% to have ever done so.That being said, there is absolutely no way to tell if a pack has been searched unless you witness it being given to you from a sealed box. It is unlikely you will find someone to open a sealed box of old cards right in front of you just to sell you one pack, so if you want the experience, you will likely have to accept some risk that the pack may have been searched.

Thanks guys. Thanks a ton. This is exactly the type of feedback I was looking to get. As it stands I'm a little more skeptical about purchasing a pack now. And the people who say it's for the experience are right on the money. The thrill of opening one, heck even just having the pack is awesome.

I think the real question is will the OP search the pack before opening it? From what I gather if he does he could just not open if its going to be crap and the pack would still be worth the $200. but I could be way off on this.
