Hey all,Anyone ever participated in these? Have any good experiences? I'd also like to know if anyone has ever tried to buy the entire lot. For instance, some of these lots 'guarantee' a huge number of power, etc. Well, if there were 5,000 packs at $3.00 then it might be worth the $15,000 with all the other good stuff that comes with it. Just curious if anyone has any thoughts. Thanks.

1. Notice how whenever you come across these repack auctions, 5-10% of the lots have already been sold? Those are to compatriots in the scam where the power goes to, which eventually gets filtered back to the buyer for use on the next auction.2. The value of every repack is usually worth more than the value of the cards listed in the collection, which is the entire point of doing repacks (assuming it's not already a scam outlined in the first point). 3. Good luck getting help from ebay if you find yourself with 7 repacks filled with Mon's Goblin Raiders and other jank. Overall, if you are interested in "junk diving", I would suggest using craigslist to scout out local collections in your area. It gives you the opportunity to peruse collections first-hand, with the same potential for buried treasure.

I figured as much, however, some of these persons have several hundred positive feedback from unique reviewers. Can they all really be lying or apart of the scam? It seems that perhaps some are more legit than others?

probably not worth it. even if it ends up being magically worth it, it's just gonna be BARELY.i was planning on dumping old promos/rares/etc. that i can't use and giving myself a 20% profit based on the total cost of all of the cards i was selling. that being said, it will NEVER be worth it to buy them, because the seller is going to build in profit

I've tried a few when I first saw some on eBay many years back and spent a little time reviewing feedback from sellers who sell them. Pretty quickly I came to the conclusion that you have a better chance of being hit by a meteor than you do pulling P9 (or some other high end card) from a repack.I've never pulled anything great from the ones I bought and I very, very rarely see feedback from buyers who say they've pulled Moxes or a Black Lotus from these. Bottom line is that repack auctions are too easy to run scams with and you will never be 100% sure that you're dealing with an honest seller. Personally I'd rather spend my money on booster packs than take chances on getting lucky with repacks...or better yet, just buy the singles I need.

I like the idea of them, but in the end they are a scam.Repacks are a good way of stores to get rid of random extra commons/uncommons and bulk rares while giving people chance at a BIG card. __________________ Member Since 03/28/2001 11000+ posts 1st in posts in Ontario 13th in posts on MOTL 5th in Refs in Ontario Pushing to get to top 100 in MOTL Refs

They're not necessarily scams, but even good repacks aren't really worthwhile because legitimate ones are just a way for someone to sell their collection without selling everything at a discount (and in fact, for probably more than what the collection itself would be worth). That, and even if the seller looks legit, if you don't pull anything worthwhile you'll never know if it was a scam or if it was just bad luck that you pulled a bunch of rares from Prophecy. Pretty much what Zeckk said in his first reply here.

I think in the good old days of yore repacks were actually good value. I once got a foil sliver overlord not soon after Scourge was printed from repacks like a week after I started playing. Then the scammers caught wind and it's been scams ever since.

Really?? I see feedback all the time with people "winning" the Lotus or Mox from repacks. Of course the "winner" is usually a friend of the the person selling the repacks. 99% of the time repacks are a scam. That said....about 10 years ago I found an repack auction on eBay. 40 packs $2 each highlight cards were Beta Timetwister, Mana Drain, two dual lands(cant remember which) and a few other decent cards. Auction had 38 of the packs left and I bought them. I did end up getting the twister, drain, and dual lands. Well worth the money I paid, but I think this a rare occurrence.

Not sure if this is within MOTL rules. But after informing us of what you get, you can perhaps post a link to the particular ebay repack auction. This way, everyone can compare your purchase to the seller's description.

Why wouldnt he be allowed to post pictures of what he got, exactly? He cant actually embed pictures into his post, he'll have to link use to them on a hosting site, but people link off-motl all the time. __________________ "He fights you not because you have wronged him, but because you are there."[16:17] <@BrassMan> what do you need new tech for? -sigh- Mods dont control the layout of the site, Admins do. Or more specifically, Leshrac (the owner). He's the one who updates the price guide, hes practically king. We all just live in his domain, that he's left. He still comes back from time to time, though.

Generally they are a bad investment. If you are dying of curiosity, several people who have bought have posted eBay videos of them opening repacks. I feel sorry for those people.

the most "value" card I ever got from a repack was a Beta Artifact in good condition. Not a card I really wanted and it wasn't a very good trade bait either...

I once closely followed a seller's repack pattern until I became comfortable with his approach. He would often "guarantee" that the person who purchased the most repacks in a given auction would win a nice prize. One time he offered a Bazaar of Baghdad as the prize, and so I decided to go for it. I purchased 39 repacks at $4 each. I even made the purchase last minute so no one knew the number I had in mind. Well, turns out someone bought even more. My repacks arrived and I had one card of note: an Unlimited Illusionary Mask. It was nice to get that at least, but the card was suspiciously in a penny sleeve while all the other cards weren't. So how could that have been "random"? His feedback was 100% during all of this, so my guess is he would make sure to give a buyer some percentage of value back for what they spent, but I assure you that percentage was always less than 100. Was a ton of fun though, and I'd do it again if I had the time to do that kind of extensive research.

Hey Guys,I got my repacks today, well packaged and what not. Here's what I got out of 40 repacks that seems to be worth nothing, I obviously got a lot more rares and random foils but no point in talking about them: 1x Lightning Angel, FOIL, Signed by rk post, Altered Art. This was pretty cool, I don't know if it has any value though really. (Thoughts?) 1x Wrath of God (m12) Japanese 1x Disrupting Shoal 1x Sorin Markov (Japanese) 1x Garruk Wildspeaker 1x FOIL Pre-Release Ajani Vengeant 1x Solemn Simulacrum (m12) 1x Avatar of Woe (Graveborn Foil) There were some random choice commons and uncommons that were OK, but nothing beyond that. All in all it's less than what I paid, but they aren't terrible repacks at all and quite frankly...it was FUN. What a concept. Dunno if I'll buy again, maybe I will just for the hell of it.
