Doubt it. He's on the boards all the time with legit topics. Not worth it to lose all credibility.

I certainly hope your friend is just messing with you. If a guy came up, snatched a $300 card from me and proclaimed testing would need to be done, I would inform him in 5 seconds before 1 of 2 things happens. Either the card will be in my hand or my phone calling the police to inform them that I was robbed.

Sounds less like the story is therefore true, and more like the scammer just convinced your friend in addition to other people.

Your buddy definitly owes you a Pearl. Why did he let them take it? Why did he not call the police right there and let them sort it out? Argh, it didn't even happen to me and it infuriates me.Post on Dieter's twitter and ask him what the hell is going on.

A handwritten note and a business card makes it seem legit?Man, if someone just went around talking to WOtC employees and asked for their cards, that's like a confiscated lotus each! If this were a legitimate seizure by legal authorities, there'd be a document filled out on official stationary, with photographic evidence of the card taken away, signed off -by- the owner of the card as well authorizing them to take it with them.

Yeah, really. Does Wizards need to post some "REMEMBER, WotC employees will NEVER ask you for your cards" warnings at events or something.

Just be prepared to have them tell you "That's absurd, we'd never do that, but obviously we have no way to help you find the ripper, or compensate you in any way for handing a card to a dude"

Well, it looks like the guy (or at least the name on the card..) is really a wizards employee http://www.alltern8.com/library/an_exclusive_interview_with_dieter_schoeters/l-5144.htmlHe's also on twitter https://twitter.com/#!/dieterschoeters Try and contact him there. Or, if you'd prefer, I can do so. I don't think this is a scam. It just doesn't feel like one. I think it's an overzealous employee who decided to take the law into his own hands. The situation is weird and awkward, but I don't think it's a scam.__________________ Looking for misprinted Commander decks. Got one? Talk to me.

It seems something I wouldn't have done if I were him. Especially if it turns out its not a fake.

I think that there are a few errors. It may not be a scam, but it was definitely taken care of in a poor manner. Those involved should really be looked over as employees of wizards and affiliated parties. Your friend should also be more assertive. Handwritten note and business card? I could have that to you in a matter of minutes. Serious lack of documentation. Also, counterfeit or not, they had no right to just 'take' the card. That's theft, regardless if one is attempting to justify a possible card scam(I do not think you are a scammer. I think you may have been scammed into acquiring a false mox pearl). If I were you, I would take some serious consideration into contacting wizards customer service, and explaining the story to three or four people, including supervisors. Explain how you are very unhappy with this entire ordeal, and that you are aware that counterfeit or not, The card was taken from your friends possession without permission, which is theft. That in itself has many implications wizards probably wouldn't want to deal with. Thirdly, possibly talk to a criminal lawyer about this. Just some free advice and explain the story. I am not sure if it applies to you, but some states have finicky laws that could severely benefit you.

OK, I have no doubt that the seizure was done by a legitimate Wizards employee. What I find strange is the aforementioned lack of documentation. There is really nothing you can do if this was a real Pearl and it gets swapped out for a fake one.
