Is it just me, or have others noticed a slow down in sales lately? (last month or two)I have had more people come and dump cards off on me locally lately then usual, but haven't sold as many as I usually do. ( I only buy nonstandard and non rotating cards) I don't deal in standard cards really so I am not sure rotation has much to do with it. Except perhaps the fact many stores are probably trying to dump the rotation cards. The dollar has lost value and the Euro has gone up so that should help the international sales. TCG player perhaps being open to everyone now perhaps is putting a dent?? curious if others are experiencing similar issues or have other theories.

I'd say yes...but I'm pretty sure my situation is mainly tied to quality of inventory listed currently I did not realize TCG player was open to all right now. Are people having luck with it? I used to mess with CardShark, but it seemed like there were not many shoppers on there. At least not enough to make the stupid high fees worth it. __________________ Wisconsin - smells like dairy air!I collect Granite Gargoyles. Send them my way.

I haven't noticed a difference. I have enlarged my sales thread 3 fold so that has made my sales better. I am really contemplating moving it all to TCG player to make it easier on me. The back and forth with buyers is getting to be a real hassle. Waiting 3 days for someone to finally send payment and such.A new set might also have some to do with it. A lot of players are focusing on new cards at the moment. I really hope this site gets an update cause we are fighting an uphill battle with all the little issues that are popping up.

The cart optimizer on TCGplayer has led to me using it much more than MOTL. Now you can just plug in all of the cards that you want and get good prices on everything with very little effort.

I've found cardshark works well for trying to sell off junk, but can't seem to get anywhere on tcg player.

Really? Did they lower the minimum sale price? I had junk stuff sitting there forever at the rock bottom price. __________________ Wisconsin - smells like dairy air!I collect Granite Gargoyles. Send them my way.

One issue is a lot of prices are higer than ebay completeds on here now, and also higher than some prices on TCG so people have gone to cheaper options when they see that. Also every fall during rotation I think this happens till standard settles in a bit.

Of what I've spent in the last 2 months which was A LOT, I had to buy a large amount from stores and eBay, because it was cheaper and because there were available, there are not too many cards around in the sales section lately. In my opinion, in most cases motlers are expecting to get far too much for their stuff and their overall pricing has gone up over the last 12 months, so this makes motl not as good place to buy some stuff as it used to be.

Well, a few Mods have stated before to go somewhere else if they didn't like MOTL's pricing. guess they actually took the advice seriously.

Cardshark hasn't changed the min prices, but for some reason I manage to sell a steady stream of junk there. It's by no means enough to quit my job for but its enough to keep filling in my collection without too much out of pocket money.

The only problem I see with TCG Player is the same problem I have with E-Bay. The fees. If I can sell for the same price here as E-Bay or TCG, why would I want to pay 8.5 to 10% off the top before PayPal takes their share?__________________ My 2008 Nationals MOTL's Pro-Tour Winner 2007-2009 Tower Magic FacebookhilikuS: Also, as much as MAB's list has become the list on the T/A Forum, I do miss Slinga's.

Which means sellers here should have no problem having prices 5% or so lower than eith of those sites, gives the buyer a little more value and the seller actually gets to keep more selling for less (not directed at you per se MaB) just in general about some seller's prices, fact is if I can get it cheaper on TCG or ebay I am not going to buy from you on MOTL. That being said I have gotten good fair prices on MOTL as well there are good sellers here. I have also sold things as well and been satisfied.

This is true but you also hit a larger audience selling on Ebay and TCG. Making it more likely to sell quicker then have to sit on cards. Here is a breakdown of what you would be getting for selling certain cards. price tcg ebay 1.00 0.39 0.57 5.00 3.95 4.06 6.00 4.84 4.93 7.00 5.73 5.80 8.00 6.62 6.67 9.00 7.51 7.54 10.00 8.40 8.41 10.50 8.85 8.85 11.00 9.29 9.28 12.00 10.18 10.15 13.00 11.07 11.02 14.00 11.96 11.89 15.00 12.85 12.77 20.00 17.30 17.12 25.00 21.75 21.48 30.00 26.20 25.83 40.00 35.10 34.54 45.00 39.55 38.90 50.00 44.00 43.25 $10.50 is where Ebay and TCG break even. I think it is to much of a money loss trying to sell on either site. Ebay gets better if you are a high seller due to the added benefits you get from so many sales. I try to price at or below MOTL. Everyone is going to shop at the place with the lowest prices and best selection.

Ya, I've noticed it too. I know I'm listing cards at very competitive pricing - not all, but certainly some, and yet things are still moving slowly despite the aggressive numbers I'm trying to list. Some of the big guys still come through, or random people, but it's bit by bit at a slower pace than I remember. I have noticed some pretty good deals on eBay happening from time to time, dunno if people prefer the thrill of the hunt/snipe over buying a bucks or two cheaper here. Couldn't say.

The option to go to TCGplayer, with cart optimizer, and more sellers, plus just a broader selection, has taken some of my purchases lately - I can't put in 10-15 cards on here, pick out the 3 sellers that have the cards I want, and say, "TCG low and $1 or less shipping?" consistently. That's not to say every TCG seller is a great deal, or that shipping is always that low, but it tends to be harder here. The selection just isn't as broad, people are either looking for deals for buying your lot (and the sellers are thinking, "Screw you, you don't get a ridiculous deal, these are all fine cards in demand, so I'll go TCG low and no more,") or people are only looking to buy from people with most/all the cards they're looking for right then, which is easier done on ebay/tcgplayer/whatever. I still buy/sell/trade on here, but just not exclusively. __________________ Originally posted by rats60: It's easy to run your month, but when it's time to back it up, no one's there.

The key is "if" you can sell for the same price as those sites. I'd imagine an established seller with a large inventory and strong reputation like yourself can do that, but if it's someone with a smaller inventory or a lesser reputation, I'd think most buyers would rather pay the same price on ebay or tcgplayer to a.) get everything they need via the optimizer in terms of tcgplayer in particular and b.) be able to rely on buyer protection and the reputation of the sites in question.

I think its because everyone is trying to get the max value out of there cards. Sellers don't want to pay the fee's of ebay but still expect to get the same (sometimes more) than ebay completed auctions. With the sales starcity had this summer it was just cheaper for me to order from them.

I would argue against this point. Granted MOTL does not have buyer protection, I have way more trouble on Ebay than I do here. Sure I get my money back on Ebay, but I'm not buying items so somebody can borrow my money for a month or so. I want the items. I have had very few problems with MOTLers, and I do far more transactions here than on Ebay, and over a much longer period of time.
