I was thinking oloro with zur's wierding, bitterblossom, and embargo. Thats as far as I've gotten, but its also going to be for 1v1 so it should be more effective.

Forgot how difficult it is to build a Commander deck from essentially scratch, especially when there are many players in the area. __________________ The Mana Source

Update on my order from EVO Games (Since a couple of you guys talked about ordering the set from them):I preordered and received the confirmation email that the set would be shipped on the first. I emailed them two weeks late, asking where my package was, and go this in reply: " First of all, please accept our apologies for the delay. Our area was recently hit with severely high winds and we were without power for a couple of days. Our phones are still having some trouble and as a result, we have had several delays updating customers' in a timely manner. Unfortunately, your order has not shipped yet. Although we have shipped over 100 of our preorders, we are still waiting on the rest of our initial order to arrive. The only explanation we have received is to wait patiently - the demand for Commander is tremendous and orders are being filled as quickly as possible. We do expect the balance to arrive within the next 7-10 days. Once we receive our delivery, we will expedite shipping out orders as quickly as possible. You will received an email with tracking once your order is processed. If you would rather have a refund at this point, simply reply to this email and let us know. Refunds are processed within 24-48 hours." So they didn't think it necessary to let me know my product would be arriving a month late, and they are already taking preorders for the second wave, when they haven't even fulfilled the first.

Kind of want to call the local police on them. I guess I'll probably cancel. What would be interesting is how much they have in stock in their store.

How does the number of players in the area affect how you build your deck? I love building from scratch, it is a great challenge.

I always have difficulties cutting cards. So my solution? Different themes. I have Zedruu - Base 60 cards and two 40 cards "Decks" - Group Hug and Combo. I have Blue Green - 60 Card Base and 3 40 cards "Decks" - Prime Speaker (+1/+1), Edric (Snake tribal), Momir (Fatties) I have Lin Sivvi - 60 Card Base and 2 40 Card "Decks" - Opalescence and Token/Crusade effects. I just recently made a WU(G) base - At the basic level, it's a UW Kangee Aerie Keeper Bird Tribal - It can then add Green (lands and charms) and the Bird tribal Commander becomes Deveri. I then can take out the birds, lead with Rubinia or Phelddagrif (!), this deck which has a Wizard tribal subtheme. Definitely adds variety so I can play anything I want. And don't need to build a completely new deck and get the land base. __________________ -Schmitty, MOTL's Psychiatrist 72nd in Refs [324] on MOTL (3 behind iaa@yep.com) 2nd in Refs [324] in OH-IO (71 behind souladvocate) 1st in Posts in OH-IO (Passed the legendary ValMTG) “If Brad Stevens is the future of coaching in college basketball, the sport is in a good place" - Rick Pitino

Sounds like waaay too much work to me. I just had 3-6 edh decks on hand back when I used to play edh for variety. Now we just just EDH cube draft instead and that keeps it very fresh every time

Meant to write "aren't many players" to begin with but its harder to trade for the hard to find stuff when less people play the game locally. I never buy online otherwise I probably would have the deck built if I really wanted to. __________________ The Mana Source

This sounds like a great idea. I have a personal rule that I can only have one copy of a non-basic land card across all of my EDH decks, so this would be a great way to add some variety and not break my arbitrary rule about uniqueness.

+1 . I built my EDH deck from the scratch based from my collection. I remembered my 1st EDH General was Jhoria, the Ghitu. It was so unfriendly that i suspended obliterate + any single Eldrazi creature.. LOL ! Anyway, some folks will buy the commander deck cause they do not know how to start from scratch or lazy to form from scratch. __________________ If MTG is a metaphor in our lives, it will be Yawgmoth's Bargain.“I choose a lazy person to do a hard job. Or enjoy the new cards and generals in the decks, and incorporate those cards into existing decks or use never before seen generals to spark new ideas... ~MM __________________ Blah, blah, blah werewolf. It's not laziness, it's getting the cards relatively cheap and seeing the new cards.I saw that the UGW general was a bird. I always wanted to build a bird tribal, and this gave me a decent incentive to do so, without having to get some of the random lands and pay SCG and other online prices for them.
