I see these on eBay almost everyday. But they are only asking $5k. Don't know where $20k comes from.

Or you could use that as evidence, contact the authorities and link them to this page with all his info and evidence of him trying to scam people. They can then follow the leads...it's pretty clear on the internet if you search on him. If I lived in Florida I would.

If any of you have been personally damaged, knows someone who has or has personally been contacted by this criminal in a documented act of attempted fraud, please feel free to send me a pm and I can make sure local law enforcement is made aware. I'm not sure exactly how much progress can be made without an actual victim willing to file charges, but who knows?Take care.

I was victimized by this person. He has an ad on Craig's List with an ebay job. Once you sell the Beta Booster Box for $2,000 and ask him to ship it, he writes: "Hi (my name). Can you please write me a CASHIER'S CHEQUE for $1,000 (send it overnight) after you have transferred the money into your bank account (from PayPal), which TAKES 3 DAYS TO COMPLETE? I'd have to order a Beta Booster Box from my supplier for $900. Again, I have no more of these at my house, and I must have to order them with your CASHIER’S CHEQUE for $1,000. By the way, I only made $100 (but you have made $1,000). Congratulations. You’ve made $1,000 today. Hope you understand my quagmire (complex situation from which it is difficult to free oneself). Send the cashier’s cheque overnight. Send it to: John Brown PO BOX 6034 Tallahassee, FL 32314 >>> by overnight mail if possible to this address on Thursday/Friday. It is so embarrassing to be scammed by someone who is obviously not too bright. I urge anyone who has been a victim to report it to the FBI (simple on line form) and any forums or scam alert sites you can.

I have seen 5-6 of these beta boxes pop up recently. I dont know who would fall for this. You think PayPal would catch on if there is so many deals reversed for $2000 on beta boxes.

The website to report this kind of fraud is ic3.gov. You may also wish to contact the nearest FBI office, but they will refer you to that website. Just as a heads up to everyone, this person has recently been officially reported to the FBI. The information they provided was that anyone with supporting information about his activities, whether a victim or not, is able to report him. Anyone with additional information, whether he has contacted you, victimized you or otherwise, should also file complaints with the FBI. The more people who come forward the more they have to go on when building their case against him. The original poster should definitely file. The fact that he sent you money and merchandise through the mail in his attempt to defraud you may add another element of fraud since he used the post office.People like this ruin the hobby and damage peoples lives - please take this seriously. He uses so many aliases in his crimes but with minimal investigation it's always clear that it's the same person.

Someone should contact whatever university he goes to with this link and get him in trouble from trying to cheat http://www.coursehero.com/tutors-problems/Chemistry/8421645-I-am-trying-to-find-the-test-bank-for-The-Molecules-of-Life-by-John-Ku/

refund the money to the buyer, apologize, take your lumps, learn from the experience! don't know why you'd say HE isn't bright. He is obviously bright enough to prey on people who are greedy. Who still believes some bank in Nigeria has 10 million dollars with their name on it?

Lol, that old Nigerian bank scam is ridiculous. Who could be so gullible? Prince Azubuezi told me not to contact any Nigerian authorities if I wanted to claim my inheritance....So as to not completely derail this thread I'll give an update - Leon county sheriffs office (Tallahassee) has also opened an investigation into Cheng. Not sure what will come of it, but to the victim who posted above, you should notify them through their anonymous crime reporting form on the website.

@ DeBasilisk. Will do. When you are a victim of this kind of scam, it is tempting to keep quite and not say anything for fear of exposing yourself to ridicule. You have been understanding and helpful. Thanks.

That is the last thing you should worry about. Do everything you can to end this guy. We joke a lot (I joke a lot but no disrespect was intended to you) but we are all behind you and we are all sick of Cheng. Go get him!

@georgieboy Don't be too hard on yourself. Internet scams are a billion dollar industry and literally millions of these crimes go unreported every year. I used to work in a position that dealt with these kind of crimes. Lawyers, doctors, judges - we would hear from all sorts of people who have been taken in by any one of the thousands of these kind of schemes. Everyone lets their guard down at least once in their life. Cheng's time has come. He's been running this and other scams for half a decade. The reason he gets away with it? People who know him personally are all aware of his actions but don't turn him in to the authorities out of pity and his victims don't bring this to the attention of law enforcement due to embarrassment or other fear. Enough is enough.
