There's a story here, and I want to hear it. Maybe....

You probably need to offer at least a 10% bonus

I suppose. I had someone message me saying he wanted a huge bonus for a nm savannah. then messaged saying he was offered a 13% bonus. I did not reply. __________________ 30th in refs on Motl! #1 Ref's for Arizona! I offer 3rd party trading services. Email if interested. Your 2008, 2010 & 2012 Siskel & Ebert award winner! How does the bonus thing work? I assume you are just sending the extra points after the card arrives.__________________ Wisconsin - smells like dairy air!I collect Granite Gargoyles. Send them my way.

That's how it usually works, though I always send a message to confirm prior to sending out. I wanted to get 1k BFZ block full art lands and offering a 10% bounty over 500 points really encouraged people to send in higher numbers. Right now I am offering 15% on a NM Abyss, full puca value on SP. In order to differentiate yourself from the other "buyers" out there I feel this is a necessary thing. edit: As much as I loved MOTL the haggling and bickering over $.15 really got to me after a while. With puca I just look for good packages, send them out and wait for the cards I want. I completed a full set of OGW through puca and I only needed to spend $25 on postage. It makes trading so much easier.

AWW YEAH! A full Playset of Forces came in today from Mrs Mulligan! And one True-Name Nemesis, that came in bent because the sender didn't seal the toploader.

And you advertise the bonuses in your display name and user profile.

You do have to upgrade your account to "uncommon" or "rare" to be able to send points to other people.

You can still gift points by confirming receipt of cards (which were not sent) that correspond to the bonus values.

I'm a few weeks in and I gotta say I'm loving this. It's proving to be a very easy way to get rid of a ton of small playable stuff that just sits on sales lists or is too niche to usually be worth listing. In return, I've already received or have incoming about half the cards I needed for a new EDH deck, including two 1000+ point cards.__________________ Wisconsin - smells like dairy air!I collect Granite Gargoyles. I've heard a couple of people on this board saying that they don't like Pucatrade. What's the story there? Is there any other site on the information superhighway where I should be posting my list?Been trading almost a year here, but still pretty new to this whole thing. Any advice or comments would be much appreciated.

Unless your want to do a paid account, don't bother with Puca. The updates they did last year chased a ton of people away, and now points just sit in your account forever if you can't pay a bonus/bounty on stuff, which requires a paid account.__________________ Wisconsin - smells like dairy air!I collect Granite Gargoyles. It smells like a pyramid scheme with pay-to-play aspects. It totally undermines the idea of trading imo.__________________ "Message to women worldwide: Girls....we're stupid. We don't like games. We don't know games. We can't read minds. Say it like you mean or STFU." -rockondonSale Thread

Totally agree. I've heard nothing but worse and worse things. Sure people have had success but people often do...until they don't

The site was pretty good for a while. I went from 3 to 15 EDH decks. I have over 10k worth of trades. I even signed up for a lifetime membership (what a waste). Current status: It's been over a year since I've had anything sent to me. My points are just rotting. I have a 50% bonus listed. The site is dead beyond repair.

Thanks for the advice, everyone. Follow up question. Beside MOTL, is there anywhere else that I should be posting a trade list? I've had a lot of success here, but I'd like to widen the net, if possible.

This pretty much nails it. As early as last spring, I had a hard time keeping points in my account for longer than an hour or two. I sent out some stuff earlier this year before realizing what had happened to the site, and I've been sitting on those points since. I have well over 100 items on my want list, and only a handful of those are worth more than 500 points. EDIT: A lot of people have done well with Facebook groups, if you're looking for other options. __________________ Wisconsin - smells like dairy air!I collect Granite Gargoyles. Send them my way.

Good call on DeckBox. I just signed up on Sunday and have already made 3 trades, bringing in about 22 cards to help with some EDH decks I'm making.

pucatrade has officially gone in to the toilet.I promoted a trade, then cancelled it. Promoted another trade then cancelled it. They kept all the points. Lost like $25. It sucks. __________________ 30th in refs on Motl! #1 Ref's for Arizona! http://manaloopforum.eastus.cloudapp.azure.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=15&sid=76c14b01a8a431dfc874e96d7f3ea124 Your 2008, 2010 & 2012 Siskel & Ebert award winner! Which changes chased people away? Is it a case of giving too much of what people asked for and making it too complex? Leading up to the updates, it seemed they were trying their best to listen to what users wanted (while adding in a few things they thought necessary to make their balance sheet sustainable). I was a heavy user for about a year or so on Puca, but around last summer stopped trading much simply due to not building any new decks. I cancelled my uncommon level subscription when it came time to renew since I wasn't using it, but didn't know the site's usage was going downhill over-all.

Pretty sure this sums it up; "now points just sit in your account forever if you can't pay a bonus/bounty on stuff, which requires a paid account." From the beginning, it was bound to happen. Giving points away for free devalues points. There was never a way to account for this without monetizing the site so they monetized the site which caused the drop off.

So there was literally a "fake money" inflation spiral. Hilarious. __________________ "Message to women worldwide: Girls....we're stupid. We don't like games. We don't know games. We can't read minds. Say it like you mean or STFU." -rockondonSale Thread
