Meh. 5/10

I only really liked the truck chase at the beginning of the film.

A good day for Bruce Willis to pick up a paycheque, more like. He's gotta be hurting financially to be starring in so many awful movies each year. It's like three or four.

I tend to wait a little while before finalizing an opinion of a film, so after watching it three times in about a couple weeks, I have to say Django Unchained is outstanding. Probably Tarantino's best. Christoph Waltz is the man born to deliver Tarantino lines.

I thought Foxx was meh. I don't think he added anything substantial other actors couldn't.

Waltz/Jackson/DiCaprio were fantastic

Watched Wreck-It Ralph last night. It's pretty awesome as long as you get all the old arcade games references.

8/10

Saw "Now You See Me" today.

It's a solid, interesting movie that keeps you guessing.

and it's really funny when you realize that Louis Leterrier (the director) also directed the 2008 Incredible Hulk. And here he's directing Mark Ruffalo, 2012's Hulk.

Not sure if i posted this here back when i first found out, but... The Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy is finally being finished this summer!!

for those who don't know (or know it by that name), it's a trilogy of films starring simon pegg and nick frost and directed by Edgar Wright, each one corresponding to a flavor of Cornetto Ice Cream. Shaun of the Dead (strawberry flavor) was the first, Hot Fuzz (original blue) the second, and now The World's End, coming out in August (mint-chocolate chip flavor) will be the third! I am excite.

This isn't movie related, but is the TV series Breaking Bad worth watching?

In the spirit of hot fuzz, yaaaaaaaaaaarp.

When it comes to breaking bad, I've found the most effective encouragement/endorsement is (rather than rant and rave at length and try to push it on people) all ill say, and say it only once, is this: it is without exaggeration far and away simply the best television show I have ever seen. I don't mean favorite, I *do* mean best.

And it's highly addictive. You won't be sitting on your hands waiting for action or plot movement.

I was literally underwater for about 7 1/2 months. What movies should I watch? I already saw Django Unchained, thought that was pretty great.

Iron Man 3, World War Z (which I saw last night), Star Trek.

I agree with Bugger, this is a great show. After watching the 1st 2 episodes at a friends I was hooked and wound up watching the 1st 4 seasons on Netflix in just over a month. Definitely worth watching.

I watched the first episode of season 5 and then I was bummed since I was used to watching 3 or 4 episodes at a time. I'm gonna hold out until the season is over and watch it without having to wait between episodes. Right now I'm hooked on Deadwood, another very addicting series.

Deadwood was an amazing show...too bad it only lasted 3 seasons.

As far as Breaking Bad goes, it's a good show, but not best ever. I put it top 3 shows right now...and possibly top 5 of all time.

I personally think Game of Thrones is the best thing on tv right now. Followed by Breaking Bad, Mad Men, Sons of Anarchy, Walking Dead and Boardwalk Empire in really no particular order. Also enjoy American Horror Story and Archer bit those aren't dramas.

As far as best ever.....no way you could ever convince me that there was a better drama than the Sopranos. Mad Men is up there too, although the last two seasons weren't nearly as good...but I argue w people all the time that Breaking Bad doesn't get overwhelmingly great until about season 3 on.

So far Game of Thrones has yet to disappoint me. Lot of seasons left in it's run....but so far it's the only thing close to full enjoyment like the Sopranos for me....the Sopranos NEVER disappointed.

For the sake of major spoilers I'll wont say why I'm super upset w outcomes in season 5 of Breaking Bad and Sons of Anarchy for a lot of the same reasons. I know bugger probably knows why.

The Sopranos is getting very close to next in line on my list of television to watch (Twin Peaks' time has finally come so I've just started that). I may want to wait a few months though until I've gotten the LSAT out of the way; I don't want 8 (it's that many, right?) seasons distracting me, or to give it less than my full attention.

I've seen about a season of Mad Men and while it's interesting to examine, I think it pales in comparison to Breaking Bad because it's not terribly interesting to follow. Okay, yes, it explores the 1960s, but it's very hard to feel invested in anything that happens, or at least to the degree that you feel invested in events of the shows that are generally considered its peers (Breaking Bad and The Wire). By contrast, the Wire proved that you can be both interesting and gripping.

I thought I would report on two items.

1. I was thoroughly disappointed in Pacific Rim. I have a pet peeve of people judging movies for something they were never meant to be... but even with that in mind I can't like that movie.

2. If any of you have netflix streaming, drop what you're doing and watch Orange is the New Black. If you're ok with a little graphic nudity and adult themes, you will love this show. I'm having a hard time thinking of anything that I've enjoyed this much.

I just watched Pitch Perfect. I liked the movie alright, I have to say my favorite part (along with probably a lot of people) is at the end with The Breakfast Club song and the raised hand thing.

However.. and I guess it might be done on purpose because of the big deal Jesse makes about movie endings, the ending sucked. I hated it.

Why do people make a decent movie and then just ruin it with the ending?

Thanks,
Jazaray

Just got around to watching the show Lost. All seasons. I had never seen it before. I remember all the hype and whatnot from back in the day but just never got around to watching it.

-The last season sucked.
-It was... interesting even though it was very vague and predictable. Thoughts?

I thought it was ok. I enjoyed watching all the flashbacks. They reminded me how good the show was.

Of course, I thought it could have ended better. But, I still thought it was a solid show.

Eh, season 2 was still pretty solid. I think season 3 is where things really started to go downhill. I still watched the show through its entire run. There were several good episode in there, even if the bigger story got too muddled near the end.

It happens with far too many shows. They come up with a solid concept, but don't really have any idea how they actually want to finish the story when the time comes to end the series. Most of that is due to the uncertainty surrounding whether a show will survive. Many shows don't even get to air their entire first season if they don't meet ratings expectations out of the gate. Who wants to put a bunch of time in to developing a long term plan when there's no guarantee you will even get to air anything past episode 12?
