We now have Image Previews available on ManaLoop!

That is, when you hover over Cards on someone's post - we'll show an image of the card

To use them in your post, type [[card name]] in your post. This is a great way to make your have/wants lists a lot more interesting.

This is just the beginning of this feature - we've a lot more planned over the next week

I was contacted as it appears that MOTL's main page is going down and that there is concern that the rest of the site will go down soon after.

We've been delaying our release as we didn't want to use unfinished code. That said, I do understand the concern of not having a main forum for us to go back to.

So here we ask your feedback: Should we open up the new forum for users to start registrations in anticipation? Your feedback is much appreciated.

Update: February 6

We've had a pretty interesting week folks! You may have wondered why we went a little quite: A really cool tech organization asked us to present our technology at a conference this past week, and so we've spent the week prepping for the conference and showed the work we've been working on. It was just to teach others how to do better code. We will be heading back home soon to continue coding.

We are still looking for Digital Fantasy Illustrators if you know any We've met many in the past week and are trying to find the one or two we'll be working closely with.

Update: January 29

After lengthy discussions with the team, we've decided to hire an additional developer to help us so that we can get everything done quicker. We have quite a few interested candidates - so hopefully we'll have someone next week

We are currently looking for a FANTASY ART illustrator to help us with some awesome artwork - if you know anyone who can create Magic-level artwork, please do let me know!

Update: January 27

We just rebuilt the infrastructure of the platform so that it will work faster with many users and in short, created a network of servers that will power the community.

We have had new builds of the platform almost daily, and so development pace is increasing.

We are currently looking for some help on the frontend. If you know anyone who is super strong (but not super expensive) to do Angular/EmberJS work, please reach out!

As you know, after months of planning, discussion, and an epic crap ton of effort, quite a few of us have been working together to build the next iteration of our home.

What we're building is a new platform for Magic players to easily find and trade with other Magic players, Stores, and events. And beyond that, a place for you to call your home for all things Magic.

It's a big vision that requires a lot of input, and with your help we can make it happen.

Thus far, we have the backend complete: that is card data, pricing data, and other geek algorithms to provide a rich experience.

We are now onto building the frontend (the part where you get to touch and feel). Currently, we are building on the basics, and the first thing that will be up is a forum-ish.

Once that is ready, we'll be opening up pre-registrations for MOTL members only with the help of our friendly neighborhood mods.

We expect to have A LOT of wet paint during this process but will require your help to actually build this home.

I will be back in the next week with further updates. Please stay tuned and feel free to ask any questions.

Will there be a way to count our refs from this site? I trade like once a month via MOTL as most deals the past year have gone through facebook...and don't really want to have to build back over triple digit references from scratch :-p

The new website has a "migrate references," page that lets you log-in to MOTL (as a proxy), then it just grabs the references from the login'd credentials http://forums.magictraders.com/refcheck.cgi page, and puts them in (with or without comments?) into your new site.
