Hi guys,

I'm not 100% sure if this beta underground sea is real. The corners seem off to me and the most important thing is that during the light test there was a lot of marbling and bleeding.

I'm not sure if the marbling is just because the card is in poor condition on the back but I just want to be sure and ask experts on this forum.

The last picture was compared with my beta tropical island. If anyone could help me it would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

The light test seems to suggest this is not authentic.

I suspect this is a rebacked CE based on the corners and the marbling.

yeah the bottom edges are off. definitely looks fake to me

Well, it's certainly not Beta

The large disparity in wear between back and front is a red flag for me, and the backlit picture is also pretty convincing that it's fake. The front looks very good, which lends support to the idea of rebacked CE.

I would take some other Alpha cards and repeat the light test, and also get some other CE land (50 cents from Starcity or Troll and Toad) for comparison. The giveaway for Collector's Edition is a higher gloss finish than Alpha/Beta had. It's hard to describe or capture in pictures, but if you have the cards in front of you it will be obvious.
