I'm wondering as to the opinion of other players here (and collectors) but in your opinion, is there a significant difference in value or appeal for a P3K Imperial Recruiter - Chinese; over its English counterpart?

No. The print run of P3k was smaller in English than in either Chinese or Japanese. English copies are more valuable.

Ok, but how much of a value difference is there?

Quite a bit. Something like +50%. Get a judge promo. It's cheaper and much nicer looking because it's not white border.

I dislike foils - and I already have a Chinese version. But 50%? Really? That's pretty substantial.

Yet accurate. English P3K was only released in Australia/New Zealand I believe, compared to Chinese and Japanese P3K which were all over Asia. As such, they're significantly rarer. And despite the large number of people that like Asian cards, there are probably more (like myself) that prefer cards they can actually read.

If your Recruiter is S Chinese I suppose you can technically upgrade it to T Chinese or Japanese. Those are slightly more desirable. But yes, English P3K is absurdly rare. At least some of it was released in Japan, too.

Upgrading from S Chinese to English is not going to be realistic unless you are dealing with a store. Dealing with a store your percentages are going to be much worse. Buy prices from SCG are: $175 for English NM $100 for Chinese NM So looking at buy prices alone, the percentage discrepancy already significant. You then need to find someone with non-foil English Recruiters (hard), who wants to trade them (harder), and wants to down-trade them to a much more common version (even harder). Even with a normal trader, expect them to bend you over for a premium, just like a store. Good luck in your quest, but I think it will be really hard to achieve.

I had 3 english and 1 T-Chinese ones. I found a Chinese guy who had 1 english and 3 T-Chinese so $75 later the deal was done. I got lucky however, finding english ones is HARD! Ok, I think I've got the information I need, thanks to everyone for their input. I thought wrong about something, and I should have known better than to make an assumption like that.
