I have been repeatedly spammed by Danny Cheung along with I am sure many other MOTL members that are otherwise honest traders. Since this guy has created a number of accounts and tried to spam people, my suggestion would be to make the member list only accessible to people with 10 or more legitimate reference lists. Im addition, I would suggest only allowing people with the same amount of refences to be allowed to post new topics on the T/A and Sale list, along with the Auction List only being able to trade until they reach their initial 10 references. Would we be able to program the forums to work this way? If not, what are other security ideas we could try?__________________ #3 in References in Virginia One of the largest, most readily available collections of good M:TG Cards in the Blacksburg, VA AreaEmail me at jshields@vt.edu, do not PM Me. If this were implemented, the rippers would just make gimmick accounts and fake up the needed number of refs. There has to be a better way to stop Danny Cheung than locking the site down tighter than Fort Knox.__________________ Annorax DCI Level 1 JudgeClick here to get $100 free on PartyPoker Help me get a free ipod and pay the bank off....

Another, easier solution would be to ignore TA posts by people without a reasonable number of refs. As has been pointed out, a minimum limit to access the memberlist will merely prompt ref-faking, which will also lead to more effective fraud. By the way, why isn't the kid serving time yet? __________________ "I have heard the mermaids singing, each to each. I do not think they will sing to me." -T.S. i dont think hes actually ripped anyone off yet. anyways, changing the forum to deal with 1 person seems a bit crazy. ive been on motl for awhile now and this is the first major spam like problem ive seen. its like my new dog that whines all the time. if you ignore it long enough, it will go away. __________________ your ubb survivor 10 champion!! I doubt it. He's clearly not afraid to go to jail to make a few quick bucks. Incidentally, I've started receiving 30-50 new spams a day from advertising companies, around the time that Danny sent me 50 copies of his latest scam. Is this related somehow? Is the member list getting datamined by outside spam companies? __________________ Total karma so far: -7Currently looking for Bazaars and Workshops, and always interested in T1 foils. I recently installed the K9 Spam Filter for other reasons. I am very happy with it. This is just another way to combat spam.__________________ If you see a rules violation, PM me a link and I will take care of it. Thanks. * 2004 & 2005 MOTL Proton award winner. SpamBayes is also a very good learning filter. By combining it with Mozilla Thunderbird, you should be able to eliminate nearly all the spam you receive.__________________ Leshrac leshrac@magictraders.com Founder, Owner - Magic Online Trading League (MOTL) "Working hard, so you don't have to..."
