Due to a technicality, I just got out of getting on the BTA board. I'm lucky, but I don't want to fall to my own elusivness.

I agreed to sell cards to someone and we exchanged addresses (well, he sent me his since I was sending cards first). Then I had a friend of mine make me a better offer on ONE card that was included in the deal for $2.

He threatened to put me on the BTA board for backing out of a deal, but I didn't. I just changed the deal. I even took an extra .50 of the total price.

So basically, i'm saying that "backing out" of a deal needs to be explicitly defined. I got out of it by saying that backing out is getting out of it entirely, while I was just altering it.

You agreed to a deal. You confirmed it. You then decided not to do said deal. Your case was absolutely BTA-worthy. Changing the deal after confirmation is not allowed unless both parties agree to it. Once you promise your cards to someone, it's extremely bad form to accept an offer on even one of the cards "to get a better deal."

well if its not, changing the deal should be just as bad if not worse than backing out, sure if its an accident thats fine, but if youve sold something then decide to sell it to someone else for more and alter your first deal. thats very shady practices (not against you speechjew, just stating in general.)

I really don't see where the confusion is. You can't go to the store, buy a pound of turkey, and be happy when they hand you ham and a 50-cent discount because someone else offered them an extra buck for the turkey as they were packaging it for you. I can't see how you think that altering the deal makes it okay to trade cards you committed to an earlier trade.

speechjew, it seems pretty clear to me that you backed out of the agreed upon deal and tried to substitute a different deal that was never agreed upon.
