I think there should be some kind of limit on how long an inactive post is allowed to remain on the trading forum (or any forum for that matter). It boggles my mind that there are lists over a year old that still come up on trade matcher. Not sure how long time limit should be, but 3-4 months would be fair I think. Just a thought.

I see what you're saying, but I don't think deleting old posts altogether is the answer. How about, when a trader is using the trade matcher, there's a drop-down menu? Something that says... "View All Lists From: (the past 10 days, 30 days, 3 months, 1 year, whatever...)" Wouldn't something like that do the trick, without having to delete people's H/W lists? __________________ Eternal EnlightenmentAIM: EvanWithAnS

Menu is fine to fix the tradematcher, but I'd prefer auto deletion of old posts... I typically don't use the tradematcher a lot, but it's pretty annoying when I browse these lists occasionally and find that someone posted on one that hadn't been updated for a year. It'd fix thread necromancy on the H/W forum, and could probably be pretty useful on the trade/sale forum as well. I mean, these aren't discussion forums where some really old thread might still prove to be useful a few years down the line. If a H/W thread hasn't been updated or really even posted on for months, what's the chances of the guy having the same collection, and the chances that he even cares about the list? __________________ Need signed/altered and P3K cards. Oh... does "inactive" include not being edited? Let me rethink some things then.__________________ Eternal EnlightenmentAIM: EvanWithAnS

or just posts that haven't been edited for "some time" and old posts that expire after a certain amount of time. Perhaps maybe a few days before it expires you can get an email or something to warn/notify you? Just in case you don't have your list saved or something or need to save information. Not sure if that's plausible or not.

Perhaps there could be a column in the trade matcher showing the age (posted/edited last) of the trade list.Would that help? __________________ If you see a rules violation, PM me a link and I will take care of it. Apparently not, since it already exists. I've always thought that it should be set up to exclude posts 30+ days old unless a box is checked or something. __________________ _Ashley_: i mean you ate tomatoes _Ashley_: needles are nothing Report rules violations.

deleting post after so long would also free up server space. Not sure why someone would have a list over a few months old anyway.

Gee, thanks for the sarcasmfest, guys. You're both such helpful mods. Even though the update date is listed there, it'd be a lot better if you could actually remove matches from your list based on that date, without having to do it yourself, mentally. __________________ Eternal EnlightenmentAIM: EvanWithAnS

It's actually pretty annoying for those of us with fairly specific wants. I look at my trade matcher, and the first 2 pages are all lists that have been old and dusty for at least 6 months. I have to go 3 pages in before I find anyone that actually is active and has a trade match with me. __________________ Mess with the best, die like the rest. Boltbait: pyr0ma5ta speaks the truth.

I just click on the updated date so it sorts that way...no muss no fuss. __________________ Report rules violations.Email from me will be from nderdogmotl<at>gmail.com. My profile address is a forwarder. There's no need to fear, UNDERDOG is here!

Right, but when you sort exclusively by date, you lose the luxury of sorting by number of matches. Meaning, you'll get stuck with a bunch of 1 have/1 want matches that you don't really want. This is all a really minor issue and I don't actually care all that much, but I'm just saying... sorting by date isn't perfect. __________________ Eternal EnlightenmentAIM: EvanWithAnS
