This has been a gripe of mine for a long, long time; Is there any way to stop the tesxt editor from jumping the cursor to the beginning each time I use one of the editor buttons to bold/size/auto-card/etc. some text? It makes it very time consuming and frustrating to do a lot of formatting to my h/w list(for example). __________________ No touching the dancers.

What platform/browser/etc. are you using? It was designed and written for IE on Windows, so if you're having trouble, first try that. __________________ If you see a rules violation, PM me a link and I will take care of it. Firefox 2.0 on Windows XP. I have no desire to use IE.

I can understand your reluctance to use IE. But, consider the following. If your favorite tool is the hammer and you need to screw something to the wall, wouldn't it be wise to use the screwdriver for that task? The hammer can still be your favorite tool, however, in this case, it may not be the best tool for the job. Perhaps it would be wise to use IE for editing your list. __________________ If you see a rules violation, PM me a link and I will take care of it. Thanks. * 2004 & 2005 MOTL Proton award winner. I found a work around so I don't have to use icky IE: IE Tab extension for Firefox. Works fine with that.

So, your solution is to use IE. Excellent. Glad that's working out for you.__________________ If you see a rules violation, PM me a link and I will take care of it. Sorry, but that's just ridiculous. If it doesn't work with Firefox, then it's broken and should be fixed. "Designed for XX" is just like "works only in 1024x768", it's 1998 web design and inherently bad. Especially since IE is the reason for a lot of the bad stuff on the Web, no one should use it ever.__________________ Traction - realtime audiovisual experiences We're making the last film, they say it's the best. I lol'd. Exactly how much experience do you have doing web programming, anyway? No browsers follow the web standards correctly. We are sometimes forced to choose which browser to write to because what works in one doesn't always work in another, and there are times where you can't make both happy. IE has the largest browser share, so intelligence dictates that's what you write for. __________________ Mort was already aware that love made you feel hot and cold and cruel and weak, but he hadn't realized that it could make you stupid. I haven't done enough web programming to call myself proficient, but I do development for mobile phones and my code needs to be deployed in 200+ different handsets, so I do think I know something about writing portable code. I still stand by "if it's broken, fix it". Plenty of sites work flawlessly with both firefox and IE, and I don't see what the issue is here. Write custom code, if you need to, and if you feel the need to serve the customer (which I guess is the issue here). If I wrote code that worked on a Nokia handset and crashed on an Ericsson one, and told the customer to use a Nokia phone, I'd be very soon out of work, or at least have unhappy customers not using my code anymore. Non-standards compliant code is cancer everywhere, because it gives people reasons to use non-standard tools, and in the end makes life more difficult for everyone. Sure, the issue is a minor one here, but it's more a matter of principle. And also, Firefox and other alternative browsers are gaining market share.

I'm a FireFox person, but I'm also a programmer, and because of the issues, I realize that it's just not a big deal. I can still use FireFox to accomplish the goal, or I can switch to IE, or use a FireFox add-in. If you're too lazy to do any of those, it clearly isn't an issue for you. Expecting Bolty to spend hours or days to debug something because FireFox doesn't properly interpret code doesn't make any sense to me.__________________ Mort was already aware that love made you feel hot and cold and cruel and weak, but he hadn't realized that it could make you stupid. Using IE is a security issue, and there non-windows users as well.

Several reasons why I can't fix the problem...1) I can't please everyone 2) I don't run FireFox 3) I don't have a Mac If you like the buttons the way they are, GREAT! I'm glad I could help. If you are not happy with the buttons, don't use them. You are no worse off than before they existed. OR, why not take on the project of fixing the code yourself. If you do a good job, I'm sure Leshrac will use it. __________________ If you see a rules violation, PM me a link and I will take care of it. Thanks. * 2004 & 2005 MOTL Proton award winner.
