Is there a reason why we couldn't add a few UBB code tags, like [center] and [font color]??

Also, can someone "fix" my account? I created a post in the sale/trade forum to see which UBB features would work best as I create my post (since there's no test forum). I deleted it and went to create my real one and it says I'm locked out for 24 hours

From what I noticed people start getting bad habits with more options.

It is easier for people to read text when the text and the background contrast each other, like black and white or black and grey. I've noticed on some sites where people want to get fancy and use the color of Card X for their text, this gets hard to read. It actually will turn more people away then it will bring in.

As for centering. Same thing, bad habits arise. Contrary to what some people think, centering does not make everything look better. Again I've seen lists where someone decided to center their whole this thinking it works better. But in actuality, left aligned is preferred because naturally people in the US read from left to right and it helps the reading flow when everything is left aligned.

If you just want it for titles like, "artifact" and what not, I feel we would be better served with an indent feature, where you put the title then indent everything under it.

All in all, I think the reasoning for those options missing is to keep the professional look of the site, it keeps everything in order.

And why did you delete it, were you trying to use tags in your title? If not, you could have just edited the post.

The lock out feature exists, I believe, to prevent spamming on that forum. You can only create one thread every 24 hours.

This has probably saved us all a lot of pain with the occassional scammer who posts some sort of thread in every forum advertising cheap electronics or whatever.

This can already be done:

If you want to indent a block of text or a number of lines simply put the entire thing inside of a [list] tag. If you don't use the matching [*] tag, it will simply indent all of the text without putting in the bullets.

As you can see, it works exactly as you have requested.

Everything outside of the [list] tags, of course, is normally left justified to the left margin.

Ah you're right, I actually forgot about it. I used to use the feature. Thanks for the reminder.
