Topic: BUG?? Deathrite Shaman

doing a deathrite shaman search in either the have or want search forms returns zero results. i have been doing a 'shaman' search to get all shaman cards and then finding 'deathrite' on the page itself.

M13 and Return to Ravnica havent been added into the databases yet. Someone is working on it.... maybe.......__________________

It is very disheartening that sets can't get added to the h/w search in a timely manner. I am constantly stuck with a lot of new cards that I can't offer to other people because I don't know who wants them. I can't trade away the hot cards right after release without looking through every single h/w list to see if that person wants them. What is the process for updating these lists? Why does it take so long to happen? --Evil __________________

I'd like to bump this post. I think it's a damn shame that such a great site is so far behind on one of it's most important features. Is there really noone who wants to update the list???

Agreed, I think it is one of the most important features of the site for trading, buying and selling. Miss it so very very much because I'm not entirely sure even the sets that are in there are accurate.

Our new admin, Nouveaux, is not able to update the sets or price guide. He doesn't know how to, only Leshrac has that ability.

For the love of God, if Leshrac doesn't care about the site anymore, let him pass it on to someone who does. The fact that he hasn't done anything the last year or so makes me think that he lost interest. I'm sure there would more than enough candidates to keep this site up to date. Besides, it would be a shame to let such a fine site with such a good reputation and loyal public go to waste.

I have tried to help before and got some good response from users. Nothing ever came of it. Got I guess "shot down" by Bolty on the PERL comment but, hell, I write code all day and have for the last, oh, 12 years and I'm pretty confident I could make this all a reality. Granted, MOTL is written PERL as it's UBB script is real old and I haven't written in PERL before. http://classic.magictraders.com/ubb/Forum8/HTML/001826.html http://classic.magictraders.com/ubb/Forum8/HTML/001742.html I sent nouveaux a page I made that can spit out all the card sets in a comma separated list a few months ago. Depending on how the MySQL query is built for insertion into the trade matcher, that might be all that's need (plus an INSERT) to make it happen. Anyways...

One thing that has been bothering me is that the ability to update this information is limited to one person, and that one person is essentially ignoring a large piece of why myself and others used to enjoy this site: the trading. Given that I'm still waiting to get the reward for proving the existence of Portuguese Portal 2 for the last, oh, 10 years, I'm not surprised the price guide hasn't been updated.Edit: IF this continues, MOTL will become pretty much irrelevant by the end of the year, which is kind of sad. How hard is it to import new sets. Seriously.

Maybe if we all email Leshrac? I'm sure a few dozen emails or more may get his attention.Just be nice about it. Along the lines of:

@Mr.C I agree. The trading part of 'MOTL' ceases to exist every set. It will become irreverent real quick if this keeps up. @MM I would hope a few nice emails would do it. I can't say what's going on on Leshrac's part and whether or not it can be dealt with. If it is such an undertaking, then the system to update can be re-written. First things first, is to get it up to date. After that, make it easier to update. Seeing the way the matcher actually works, it needs work. I know it's an old system and that's doable. Again, I do this kind of work for a living. But, like my real job, I need access to the guts of it to see whats under the hood. I've offered my assistance and am more than willing as a long time member to help out. Someone just needs to give the go-a-head on it.

The fact is either Leshrac doesn't have the time or is no longer interested in updating this and needs to hand it off to someone who will do it in a timley manner, otherwise why have the feature if it is not kept up to date in a reasonable time frame. maybe Nouv and the mods can talk some sense into him, and some nice emails from the community.
