I think that would be a good deterrent to stop these negative point totals. I would be okay if you or other mods would provide smacks on a quarterly basis until the person gets their total back to zero or above.

I just spent 45 minutes reviewing this, and the only thing I've figured out is that there absolutely needs to be a consistent reporting format for points. The way that some people post things makes it way too easy for things to get missed. I don't have time to go through yet again and figure out what I missed so far, but I'll try again later.

I don't see how that would do anything other than complicate the situation even more. We need less posts to sift through, not more.

After some thinking, I would propose the following format. The top line(s) of the post can be for points changes. The bottom lines are for updated wants. The middle part can be anything else. Being able to just look at the top line of each post to see if there are point changes that need to be addressed and at the bottom to see if lists need updating would make my (and presumably WestWycke's) lives much easier.

A couple examples:

As for standardizing the formats for posting, my thought are that there are generally 4 kinds of info that is posted here.
1. Want list updates
2. deals agreed to
3. cards received and points need updating
4. miscellaneous conversation (i.e. anything else)

Of the four, only item #3 has any value significance; the rest are purely informational. This is the one that most need standardizing as it is the one that causes the most confusion and complications.

I like the idea that nderdog proposed that any point shifts should be at the top of a post, and be simple and clean. A header indicating that it is an update that needs the attention of one of the MCE governors, and then who gave how much and who gets how much.

I view anything after that as being primarily informational, and I have no strong opinion about its order/format/organization.

One thing I would ask, though, while we're on the topic. Some members post want lists that include divider bullets. Please, no bullets - we only have to edit them out. You can see what to avoid in revenger's post near the bottom of page 1 or WCFmo's post near the middle of page 5.

For me, having the want list updates clearly marked as well helps me when I'm going through the most recent posts to update all of the lists, which is why I had them at the bottom. Anything that can save me a little time when updating the threads makes me happy.

Good point on the lists and bullets. I know that when copying from the first page, it throws something in there automatically that I always have to remove.
