How's everybody liking these? I got to play the The Mimeoplasm deck last night for a while against the Zedruu deck, and they seemed pretty evenly matched. I was disappointed by the inclusion of Patron of Nezumi in a deck that had zero other rats in it, since they could have easily popped in a Ravenous Rats or a Changeling or something. Insurrection seemed a little unfair in the Zedruu deck, and we both thought that The Mimeoplasm needed some targeted creature removal and that Zedruu needed a Wrath effect and a few less walls. Otherwise they seemed very well-built and very synergistic. I was quite impressed, and we had a lot of fun. The Mimeoplasm is absolutely crazy. I put together stuff like a 9/9 Azorius Guildmage and some absolutely HUGE dudes thanks to removing stuff like Mortivore and Artisan of Kozilek. The decks both had very clean manabases, too; we had the occasional mana hiccup but nothing serious. The inclusion of signets and bounce-lands made things a lot easier. __________________ Targeting...

I enjoyed the Animar deck but there was not much card draw sadly. Lost to Zedruu a lot. But now that I changed a ton of cards, it's performing WONDERFULLY

The decks are pretty evenly matched. Though the decklists lack traditional haymakers like Tooth and Nail, 5 player games with the decks are still fun. Hydra Omnivore is a monster.

My thoughts from our Launch Party:The Vow cycle is stronger than I initially though. Zedruu needs some way to reclaim donated permanents, allowing you to negotiate one turn donations to make a crucial block or etc. Kaalia seems to lose steam quickly if you don't have anything in hand to drop. There's a general lack of countermagic it seems, especially for important cards like Insurrection. Death by Dragons is such a rude card. I may think of more later. __________________ The only thing necessary for evil to triumph, is for good men to do nothing.

Honestly, Riku is such a fun commander...but in my experience, only in magical Christmas land. If he drops and you copy even one hefty creature I've found that everyone ****s their pants and dogpiles you because they think you've got even more in hand. Consequently, the mirror mastery deck seemed a little unfun to play with because either it got stomped on (for being too weak - ie trying to play w/o Riku) or it it torn apart when you finally started doing stuff with Riku. Also, Heavenly Inferno wins my vote for most annoying deck. So many cards (avatar of slaughter, angelic arbiter, and shattered angel in particular) were just flat-out irritating, and whoever in the game was piloting it tended to be the first one to fall as a result. Zedruu, like all political decks, really needs to be killed first. Despite the gifts. Devour for power actually seemed quite fun, though for a deck with those colors you'd think it would have more answers. Never saw counterpunch in action. __________________ "I never got any respect at all. My family moved a lot when I was a kid, but I always found them." -- Rodney Dangerfield

http://classic.magictraders.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/024974.html ???anyway I have not played any of them yet my local shop was cherry picked for mirror/devour I personaly want to try out Animar and possibly Karador Ghave, Guru of Spores also looks pretty fun (though a good deck around him may cost alot of $$) I dont really care for generals over 5 mana since I play edh to actualy cast and interact with my general the 5+ just dont get much play time due to high cmc and the extra 2 ever other time. wich was one of the reasons i picked uril since hes the type of general you actualy want to get out there and attack/interact with. i'll most likey end up trading for 1 or 2 of the generals I mentioned above

The decks were really well built and I'm actually keeping one of each to play with when I feel like it. I tested them all out a few games each but not extensively. All I have to say is that Sewer Nemesis is extremely broken.

I'm disappointed w/ the card choices that went into these decks. I was hoping for more availability in some casual cards like doubling season or damnation. There are some terrible cards in the decks like a 2/1 reach spider... really? I just see myself using command tower and the improved white gravepact. I might build around Kaalia of the Vast as it seems like I could have the most fun there. The most powerful generals are the RUG ones (both of them), but they seem far too powerful even if using weak cards with them.

Yeah, except it was on average 10/10 or bigger. I hit 76/76 on one occasion. __________________ Targeting...

Guess I don't quite understand. How is it better then lord of extinction in multiplayer? We had it in our game and it was never that big. If I ever felt afraid I'd just tutor up some GY hate or something.

Even if you're playing mono-black, mortivore is normally bigger p/t. Lord of Extinction is always going to be larger than nemesis and has advantage of being green (zenith, natural order, etc). I was just pointing out that nemesis is more similar to the lord than goyf. I don't know where/why you think nemesis is more playable than lord?

I don't like that Nemesis gets killed by graveyard hate. At least Lord will survive a Bojuka Bog.

^^taking obvious trollbaitSeriously though, sewer nemesis seems like it would be very meta-dependent for it's effectiveness. Obv without a lot of graveyard hate it is insane. It seems like the correct play is to target yourself with it, not for the size but for the mill. Put him in a deck with sheoldred or xiahou as the generals. __________________ "I never got any respect at all. My family moved a lot when I was a kid, but I always found them." -- Rodney Dangerfield

I have a 5 person play group at work. We play for 1 hour every day at lunch. Each of us bought 1 deck and we have been playing as-is this week. They are actually pretty fun to play right out of the box and pretty equally powerful.

I think Mimoplasm might be a tad more powerfull the the other generals, but thats really only if you can get him out after a Buried Alive (hmm, pitch Damnia, Wonder, eel school thing.10/10 flying, deathtouch, hand filler. __________________ Joz - can we ban Leshrac for not fixing the Chrome PM issue?Gunslinga - If I thought it would help, and if I could, I would.

I don't think I plan to leave any decks with the original decklist exactly. I do plan to rebuild Zedruu for fun instead of loading the deck up with powerful cards though. I may end up doing the same with Ghave and/or Riku, haven't decided yet. Damia is my new competitive general and Kaalia was claimed by my g/f.__________________ The only thing necessary for evil to triumph, is for good men to do nothing.

I'm just wondering if I'm the only one, but I just cracked my japanese commander decks and got the heavenly inferno oversized generals in my mirror mastery deck.Has this happened to anybody else?

^^I've heard of quite a few people report they didn't receive the right decklist in their precons. I personally saw a 101 card commander deck opened. If yours is majorly screwed up (negatively... I personally wouldn't mind extra free commanders), contact WOTC about it, sounds like they are ok setting things straight.

I called wizards on mine because my B/G/W deck only had 97 cards and 7 of them were damaged. The service rep said that I had to ship the entire box w/ packaging to them and a they would ship me a new one. It would be at my expense and the whole process would mean I was out the cards for almost a month. He did say they usually threw in something cool for the hassle though. I ended up thinking it wasnt worth the trouble. Tim

Anyone seen these at target or walmart? They are sold out everywhere and shops are saying they may not get more anytime soon.
