I don't know about now.. but it did used to work that way.. I wonder if he meant that he used to tap it at will.

Yeah, Icy was initially just as broken in our group. We missed the "mono artifact" part or didn't know what it meant, so it became the most annoying card ever one day as the guy with it pretty much locked down the biggest threat each turn. __________________ Wisconsin - smells like dairy air!I collect Granite Gargoyles. [Props to Jazaray for the "Holy Roller"... evil humor, but it did make me laugh ]I was taught pretty much one-on-one by a friend of mine back in 1998 and so when I started approaching the folks in college whom I'd seen playing before I knew the rules "basically". Oh, the fun of checking out the Urza's Saga spoiler and thinking up all kinds of stupid combos! (not that Saga didn't allow for plenty decent ones as well) Nowadays it's just "pass, pass, pass, decent, pass, pass"... At that time our group was mostly very decent people (trade- and play-wise), but I was every bit the combo player: Reins of Power + Dracoplasm was the first deck I built, and I tuned a T1.5 ProsBloom to relative consistency. I recall playing a game with that deck against a "casual" player and not realizing how stupid it was to combo out and have him sit there. Now of course in casual games I mostly avoid combo save for the occasional Tendrils kill in T1. [ADVERTISEMENT] As a sidenote, if any of you guys is tired of the MtG "jerk attitude" often abundant, you should give a crack at Legend of the 5 Rings (L5R). Just e-mail me if you want to learn more about it.

My worst has to be Singing Tree was permanent and Ball Lightning died at the end of what ever turn I wanted it to. The wording on cards back then was so bad and created so many misunderstandings.

Heheh, yeah I had a Stasis lockdown deck for a long while that I played way back when...I never could figure out why some of my friends would just scoop when they recognized it. Then one day I played a game against an opponent who was playing a combo lockdown deck and realized exactly how boring that kind of game is when you're on the other end of it -lol

I though you could sacrifice other people's creatures... that was entertaining for a few games until we looked up the actual rules.

When I was a n00b, I pulled a Plateau from a Revised booster (4$ a pop back then, I started to play around Ice Age) and traded it for a Shivan Dragon.straight up. Yup, big juicy creatures that was.

I traded a playset of mishra's workshops for about $100 worth of cards for a recurring nightmare deck. Some recurring nightmares, survival of the fittests, a couple bops, and that's about it. I also remember everybody using icy manipulator as a kind of counterspell. "Before you tap that last land for mana, I tap it in response. Now what are you gonna cast with the rest of the mana? Nothing? Ha ha ha, eat mana burn NOOB!" __________________ |My Angels~My P9 l""|"\__, |~~My #1 Angel~~l'_|'_|_|) |(@)(@)""***|(@)(@)**|(@)

I thought wurms were good. Scaled Wurm and Endless Wurm were my champions. However, I did not see too many victories with my "wurm deck." There is some hesitation is saying such a bold expression. A few of us played "mana dump," were were dropped all of our mana. Did not help the wurms though. lol
