It kind of did pan out, short-term. While the deck was legal, the card had increased sharply in value.
In my case, the worst was Skaab Ruinator: I'd swear that when I bought them, the text indicated any three cards, but I may have just misread it. That was a seriously big fail on my part.

I dont get this one, PW start out inflated in price, so why would you speculate on something like that? That said every PW aside from Tibalt, once they drop they ALWAYS go back up. Look at stuff like Chandra Ablaze, she used to be bulk, now she is 5-6, every other PW has done the same dropped super low, then recovered.
As far as my speculation fail, Food Chain and Misthallow Griffin, expected someone to break that, no one did.

It would be interesting to add quantity and price paid here.Precursor Golem (few hundred)(~ $.75) Tibalt, the Fiend-Blooded (50ish)($2.50) - before the duel deck was spoiled

Worst fail I've done so far - 50 foil Reckless Waifs and 30 Foil Wolfbitten Captives at roughly $1 each in trade value. Makes me wonder why Delver has flying, but Reckless waif doesn't have intimidate  At least the captives I can sit on for cube purposes down the road.
Possible fail (won't know until after rotation) Currently at 22 foil Lyev Skynights at 12 Foil Hellhole Flailers, .50 each. Speculating based on post-rotation meta. I would be doing the same for rakdos cacklers, centaur healers, staticasters, and loxodon smiters, but the ship has already sailed on those.

I think you're misunderstanding him, hili is making a callback to a very memorable thread right around when Kozilek was spoiled, one idiot was convinced beyond the point of reason that Eye of Ugin was going to be so incredibly expensive. MOTL likes to memorialize its idiots. Who else remembers the guy who was "working with the pros" and knew that Lotus Cobra was going to break Extended with Azusa, Lost But Seeking?
