Awesome name for a card. Lousy mtg card.

Demonic Pact makes me cry. How is it a mythic? How is it even playable? How could they do that to us, slaves to the darkness.

As a red lover I now laugh at all the people complaining that super flavorful mythic black enchantment isn't constructed playable.

You have no idea, the rage I feel, now I just play Krenko instead of Xaihou Dun.

Demonic Pact + Any "Return target nonland permanent to your hand" Is an awesome combination... Especially if it starts over per play

Based off what is currently spoiled for Origins; here's a quick list I threw together for Mono-blue Devotion; which I'm just going to name Merkthos, and lets hope that name catches on. Creatures: 30 4x Master of Waves 4x Harbringer of the Tides 4x Shorecrasher Elemental 4x Mindreaver 4x Gudul Lurker 3x Thassa, God of the Sea 1x Profaner of the Dead 4x Faerie Miscreant 2x Hypnotic Siren
Non-Creatures: 8 2x Bident of Thassa 3x Treasure Cruise (Maybe 4?) 3x Icy Blast Lands: 21 3x Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx + Fetches? Xx Islands SB: (I don't know what to put here, but screw combo decks.) 4x Swan Song 4x Disdainful Stroke 4x Negate 4x Neutralizing Blast 3x Omen Speaker Of course, that's all possibly a terrible deck design since the full spoiler isn't out yet; and I have no idea and I'm to lazy to look up, the previous monoblue devotion deck lists.

I'd love to get into Modern Merfolk but I think the price just went up on every card in that deck. I'm not paying $40 for a single copy of Aether Vial. **** Modern.

Well I'd hope not. You can easily get vials for $20 each.

vial is just so much fun to brew with. it's like having shocklands and fetches; if you want to brew in modern, you should have a playset of vials. it opens up a lot of doors for mono white and mono blue decks. Edit: Also vial just jumped 10 dollars since that card was spoiled, in case anyone responds to the comment about being able to purchase it for 20

Gotta love weird big green thingsquote: The Greater Aurora {6}{G}{G}{G} Sorcery Each player shuffles all cards from his or her hand and all permanents he or she owns into his or her library, then draws that many cards. Each player may put any number of land cards from his or her hand onto the battlefield. Exile The Great Aurora.

So I put in my preorder on Origins and the store I go through is limiting it to three boxes per person - usually a case is no problem. I heard second hand (a friend ordered for me) that the store was calling it a somewhat limited product. Is this just my store having limited supply or is this set less available (from WotC) than recent standard product?

There's no information on the WPN site about limited supply. I think your store might be hedging given that the singles and core set drafts are usually not as popular. I for one am not excited to draft this set. Also, what the heck is this? It's the most hard to use "morphling" variant I've ever seen. I honestly can see it showing up as a 1-of in Esper dragons to help protect Ojutai against other control decks, but it definitely can't stand by itself.
quote: Disciple of the Rings {3}{U}{U} Creature - Human Wizard {1}, Exile an instant or sorcery card from your graveyard, choose one: - Counter target non-creature spell unless it's controller pays 2 - Disciple of the Rings gets +1/+1 until end of turn. - Tap target creature. - Untap target creature. 3/4

Enchantment At the beginning of your upkeep, if you control an artifact, put a 1/1 colorless Thopter artifact creature token with flying onto the battlefield. Whenever one or more artifact creatures you control deals combat damage to a player, draw a card.

Four mana for something that can't even block before your next turn is "meh" at best. And it is sorcery speed. That isn't something I'd want to run in any standard deck in the past decade, I don't see it running in a deck in any format in the present.

I'm pretty sure you can get this for $1.00 2 weeks after release. Seems pretty bad.

What do you mean by IDK, we know the general princples of magic pricing - if it's not a tournament playable; collectible; or just absurdly powerful casual card - odds are its a bulk. And this particular black card is exactly none of those. (at the moment) there is no standard, modern, legacy, or vintage deck for it; it's only good in Alesha type of deck, it's overall a flavorful card - but neither all that powerful, rare (physical copies), or a high-casual appeal.

I wasn't disagreeing it wouldn't be bulk prices. The sheep build whatever the pros tell them. I was saying it seems fun, not bad in a casual edh build.

Where did anybody say it was going to be an expensive card? He said fun. Fun cards are usually $1.00
